Its hard to sell anyone on a lucid dream by description alone, because it is such an immense experience that it is difficult to explain, you have to feel it, live it, breath it.
You know your not dreaming it because in the Lucid Dream you can think of the fact that you are in bed, or that you forgot to hang out the washing etc, your mind can think as freely as the waking world, And one of the most re-ensuring ways you can tell you are actually awake (and i'm only speaking for myself here) is when you are lucid and you wake up, you go from the lucid world to the real world and are conscious the whole time, for me i feel myself float up through the bottom of my matress and sink into my body, It is an absolute bizzare transition and if it were mearly a dream of being lucid, i would simple wake up like any other day.
I don't know if you have actually LD'ed before, but if not... Have Faith, when it happens... you'll know.. and you'll never be the same again.
Good luck
