Ive stopped dreaming but I want them back

Until a couple months ago, I would never have dreams. But then I discovered this website and I would dream atleast 2 or 3 times a week. I tried to start controlling my dreams but it would never work, so eventually I just stopped trying and before I knew it I was back to not having dreams again. How can I start up dreaming again? And eventually start controlling my dreams as I wanted to in the first place?

Technically, you dream every night but you simply don't remember them. For the majority of people, it takes a little bit of effort to exercise one's recall so that it stays at a good level; you can start this by keeping a dream journal. When you wake up in the morning, record anything you may remember - emotions, locations you dreamed about, who you saw... Even if it's only a sentence. If you remember something that you can't really find the words to explain, try as hard as you can to at least get something down.

Becoming lucid comes after you achieve decent recall; I'd get to at least one dream a night before worrying about actually getting LDs. But you can always go through the different induction techniques now, for motivation. And dream control is really just knowing and fully expecting an outcome, like reaching into your pocket and expecting to feel, both the texture and weight of, a set of car keys.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

      Welcome to Dreamviews

First of all, you don't need to worry about losing dreams--we all dream every night. It's remembering them that becomes the issue. It's hard to tell what happened to your recall, but normally the biggest culprit is stress of some kind. Changes in sleep schedule and lack of sleep are also big problems. Can you describe anything regarding your sleeping and waking or life changes that might've caused you any stress?

When it comes to LDing and using dream control again...the first step is getting your recall back. Once you do that, you can start working on LDing. For LDing, I personally recommend MILD (there's a tutorial for that in my sig), but you should check out some different tutorials and see what appeals to you.

Awww. Yeah, school and work are always great for messing up dreaming. Most likely, once you get back into the swing of things at school, your recall will improve. just try to make sure you get enough sleep and when you wake for school in the morning, try not to start thinking about the day ahead immediately--try to be in the habit of thinking backwards and recalling your dreams. Good luck.
