      My problem with Lucid Dreaming

      hi

So Ive had night terrors since my sophomore year of highschool and they have happened so many times that I'm started to get used to them. Anyways I've read alot on the subject and they say night terrors are a step to lucid dreaming. The other night I tried lucid dreaming and I got it on my first try. I knew I was dreaming as I walked into a room. Unfortunately the first thing I saw was an evil woman with the most evil wicked grin I have ever seen. She was so frightening that i decided to stop the lucid dream and wake up( I don't scare easy because like I said earlier I'm quite used to night terrors and sleep paralysis). Should I continue to try to lucid dream? I fear she is my Doppelgänger. What would you do?

Also I'm a guy so can my doppelgänger be a woman?

      Thanks for responding.

I know exactly where you're coming from. I suffered from chronic sleep paralysis, which were always terrifying episodes (don't think i've ever had a pleasant one). I can EASILY get into paralysis if I wished but i've been so traumatized that I always wussy-out. I consider myself brave, and in real life i'm scared of very few things.. but when it comes to SP I act like a little girl.

You're in a better position since you're experiencing this in your LD, which is way more easy to control with practice (like making scary things disappear) than sleep paralysis. I would suggest reading how to control your dreams, and just keep practicing.

Also, with the whole doppelganger.. my personal opinion is that archetypes are more symbolic than anything else. for example i'm sure your 'doppelganger' can change in different dreams, or maybe over time. It's not like an actual being in your head that stays there forever. Maybe if you over think it and convince yourself that she IS your doppelganger, that she'll just keep reappearing. Just my 2 cents.

      Best wishes to you.

The most likely solution is to:
      Punch her.

Seriously, and try to think of falcon punch too for some fun.
I never really had a real, perfect lucid dream yet, but I had dealt with all my nightmares before I even begin to keep my dream journal.

      Ey there Dreamteam3,
I assure you that it's not a doppelganger. But even if it was a doppelganger, it's in your own dream, your own territory and your own kingdom. You have the ability to destroy it in a wink of an eye. I suggest You Continue to Lucid Dream. It's the main reason why you are here my friend. It's your passion and your goal as a lucid dreamer. Don't give up and quit just because you saw an ugly lady. I understand what you're feeling, the feeling of fear and agitation, but you must exert superiority and assertiveness in your dreams. All of the things you see in your dreams, are under your power. You are omega and all powerful in your dreams. So go out there, become lucid, and do everything you desire. And if that ugly lady have the guts to show itself again, vaporize it into thin air.

Hope this helps and motivates you

Lucid dreaming is a great way to take control of your night terrors and sleep paralysis. I used to get spontaneous sleep paralysis all the time. I know how you feel, as it was absolutely horrifying. It is like chemical fear pumping through your veins. It does not scare me anymore. Strange things still happen, but I have learned to view them as positive experiences that can help lead me to a lucid dream.
