My first (and almost second!) Lucid Dream

Well I had been trying for almost 3 weeks now and I finally had a lucid dream. Here was the setup:
I got up about an hour before I actually get up, and realized i didn't have to be up yet, so I laid back down. I eventually drifted off to sleep... to awake to my roommate walking in shouting in an obnoxious fake Italian accent. This may sound like it should have been a lucidity trigger, but if you knew my roommate, it is actually pretty standard behavior. It goes on for about 5 minutes before I finally shout for him to shut his mouth because I am trying to sleep. We get in to a short argument, and I eventually get out of bed. I realize that I can't really see all that much, which is semi-normal because I have awful vision, so I just assumed my eyes hadn't 'woken up' yet. I decided to do a reality check anyways, and looked at my hands. I actually couldn't see if I had all of my fingers or if my finger went through my palm, so I went to the nose plug RC. Lo and behold, I was able to breath in. Not really believing it, I did it again. And again. And every time I was able to breath in. Once I accepted that I was dreaming, I began moving towards my window in an attempt to fly out, but woke up before I had the chance. Unfortunately, I forgot all the stabilization techniques I read so much about and my vision stayed pretty blurry. When I woke up, I performed another RC just to be sure.
I was worried that I wouldn't have another lucid dream for a while, but I was pumped that I had my first one because I read about how it is always easier after that. Well this morning I woke up for a WBTB and fell asleep. I found myself in one of my classes and had to take a test that involved me skinning a pear with my teeth. This caused my hands to be rather sticky, so I went to the bathroom to wash them. As I was walking out, I decided to perform an RC, and went straight to the nose plug one. Again, I breathed in. Unfortunately this time, I decided that my hands were too wet to actually fully plug my nose, so I didn't believe it. I went stomping up a set of stairs, and I think I was still fairly suspicious that I was dreaming, but woke up soon after.
I figured it was important to mention the updates and see if anybody else had any advice or comments.

I have some advice. I don't know how much you've read into this topic, but I'll assume you're fairly unaccustomed.

Reality checks exist only to make the individual aware of their state of reality. The motions alone, however, will not get you lucid. Awareness is what gets you lucid, and I would suggest becoming aware of everything you experience for maximum chances to become lucid, as a failed reality check won't hinder you from distinguishing the difference - eventually you just know when you're dreaming or not, without any apparent indication to such.

Here are some sources on dreamviews which will help you towards achieving a constant state of awareness:

All Day Awareness, A DILD Tutorial by KingYoshi
      SAT - Sporadic Awareness Technique

These sites aren't directly related to lucid dreaming but I think they go hand in hand as it's basically the same principles:

How To Increase Your Awareness and Expand Your Consciousness
      How to Be Self Aware
      Walking Meditation

As powerful as this techniques are, they require absolute dedication and a lot of willpower to maintain. The required amount wanes with time as it becomes more natural and easier to do, but it can be hard to keep up at first. Just keep it at and I can guarantee you'll benefit from it.

Thanks for the articles! I had read a little in to All Day Awareness but the extra articles seem very helpful in actually getting to that high level of awareness.

Keep doing whatever it is you are doing. It sounds like it is working. Did you note the times when these lucid dreams happened? It might help you track your best time to WBTB.

Well done! Keep it up, remember the more you want to do it the more likely it will happen!
