Question New to lucid dreaming and have a few questions.

Hey, just before I start I wanna say this looks like a great community and am happy to be a part of it.

      Anyway, to the questions.

      1) Is having a journal on the computer or in a book and different?
      2) How long could it be until my first lucid dream? (Haven't started any techniques)

      Thanks in advance!

You can keep a book in arms reach from your bed, so that when wake up you can write something down quickly.

You can also personalize it, draw in it, carry it with you, etc. It depends on what you want/need.

You can have one on your first night, or it can never happen.. Although that's unlikely if you actually try.

      Hi, welcome to Dreamviews!

The big difference between a computer and a handwritten journal is that, generally, you aren't going to type it on the computer the minute you wake up. And that can cause you to lose detail, because those first seconds and minute after waking are crucial for remembering details. What I do to get around this is keep a journal next to my bed that I jot notes in right after I wake up, just enough stuff to job my memory and any details I might forget later. Then I go and type it up in detail on the computer later.

As to your second question...I'm afraid there is no good answer for it. Everyone's different. It all depends--on your recall, on what technique you are using, on how motivated you are in practicing your techniques, and how lucky you are. But generally most people get their first lucid within several weeks if they are diligent in their practice. Good luck.

Thanks! I think I'm going to have a book by my bed. I'll use a journal over my computer.
