LD'ing while keeping your eyes open?

Hello again DreamViews. I have heard people can sleep with their eyes open, but can people lucid dream with their eyes open? Sounds silly, but please, hear me out...

Usually when waking up I am tired enough to go straight back to sleep. If I do go back to sleep I almost always I have a lucid dream whether I like it or not. When I close my eyes I get this 'feeling', then if I open my eyes I am in the dream. In the mornings I try not to fall back to sleep because this will happen 95% of the time. Last week I woke up at around 3:30am and stayed up just because I was afraid of dreaming.

Anyway... this morning after I had woken up I went back to sleep and straight into a lucid dream, then woke myself up immediately. I closed my eyes again and got that 'feeling', I knew what it ment and shot my eyes open, what I saw was very strange...

At first the sight in front of me was normal, my bedroom. But about a second later it became less colourful, eventually into black and white. Then it changed back to colour, and it had lost clarity, to become what I recognise as a lucid dream.

The process was divided into 'frames':

      -Eyes opened
      1- Normal clarity and colour.
      2- Less colour, normal clarity.
3- Black and white, less clarity.
      4- More colour, less clarity.
      5- Full colour, lost clarity.
      -In lucid dream

      6- Wake up
      7- Never sleep again

      Any ideas?

In my opinion there's two things that could have happened here:

The first being that you had your eyes open and transitioned anyway - with your eyes open and then not noticing that you fell asleep during the transition - causing the changes in colour that you saw

The second, and more likely is that when you felt things starting to transition and burst your eyes open - you were already asleep and dreaming! Then since you were thinking you were still sort of awake you ended up having some strange entries to the dream with the colours and what not
