      Already seeing improvement!

I started reading up on Lucid Dreaming two days ago and joined this forum yesterday. I initially started researching into it after I had two very short lucid experiences the night before. I say short, the moment I became lucid and tried to move I woke up. I think it was over excitement.

Anyway, I started a dream journal the night after that and have managed to recall 3 or 4 dreams a night already. My dream recall has always been quite good, 2 to 3 a week I'd say. I find as soon as I wake up, a part of my dream will still me in my mind, if I try to think of it it goes but if I just start writing what I do remember, it all comes flooding back.

Hopefully it won't be long before I get another lucid experience, looking forward to testing out some RC's and dream control techniques.

I guess this is sort of my intro post too, so hi all. (>^_^)>

Hi and welcome to DV! That's a great start A lucid that quickly, you must have a talent for it. Which technique are you using? Don't worry if you wake up next time you get lucid, it happens, but try to relax next time and activate your senses to ground yourself in the dream. Tell yourself you won't wake up until you're ready to and really believe in yourself when you're saying so.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!

Thanks! I'm going to be using Visualization MILD, only had two attempts at it so far with no luck but it is very early days. My other lucids were just unexpected. I've read up a lot on lucid dreams since then so I think I should be more prepared, just need the chance to try.

Only problems I'm having is keeping focused on a mantra/visualization up till I'm asleep. It takes me a long time to get to sleep, sometimes over an hour. I tend to get sidetracked while focusing on my mantra and have to start over. I can't remember what I'm thinking about as I go to sleep obviously so I'm not sure how successful I've been in doing this method. But practise makes perfect I guess.

Actually I can't focus for more than a minute or a few tops before I drift off into other thoughts, but if the intentions are strong you should be alright. When I'm saying my mantra I convince myself that I'm most likely going to become lucid. MILD usually takes a while for it to have effect, so don't worry about that

Alright, I'll keep that in mind. Thanks. I intend on trying it every night so I'll keep this thread updated if I manage to become lucid again. Thanks for your help!

EDIT: I've written up my two lucid dreams in my DJ if anyone wants to read them. Can't post links yet but I figure most of you will know how to find my dream journal.

No problem and good luck! Nice lucids also, you're basicly at the "learning how to walk" stage which is so exciting!

If you are having a hard time falling asleep, you could postpone your MILD to the middle of the night. Fall asleep normally when you first go to bed, then wake after a few hours of sleep for your MILD. This is the easiest way to MILD.

That makes a lot of sense, I reckon that would probably much more suited to me. I will start trying it tonight! Thank you

Welcome to Dreamviews! I'm so glad you found this site, you will learn a ton!

It's awesome you have already started a dream journal. That will help you a lot with recalling all of your dreams. Did you know you can actually forget having a lucid dream? Keeping a dream journal and improving recall will prevent you from forgetting lucids.

I'm sure you will have another lucid soon! Don't worry about waking up right when you become lucid, that is very common. It was probably mostly due to excitement. Right when you become lucid you should stabilize your dream. Stabilizing your dream keeps you in longer, and usually makes the dream more vivid. If you aren't sure how to stabilize a dream, read this tutorial.

Also, Matte gave some good advice. I'm sure you will do great at MILDing.

Good luck to you! If you have any questions, feel free to PM me and ask.
