      A question about lucid dreaming.

      Hi there,

I have been trying to lucid dream for like... 1 month already? And ive tried all kind of ways to do it. Yet, it didnt work at all. I do remember my dreams alot more now but i never had any feeling i was close to it... Until this morning.

I woke up too early this morning, so i got back to sleep. I was thinking about some stuff and then i thought about a technique i heard about earlier, i think it was the WILD technique? I dont know but you had to wake up like 6 hours after sleeping and then when you wake up either count yourself back to sleep or stay up for 1 hour thinking about lucid dreaming only. Well when i tried to get back in sleep, i started counting like 1 im dreaming, 2 im dreaming, 3 im dreaming, 4 im dreaming, etc

And my goal was to count like that to 120. At around 98, i started to feel numb in my legs and arms and around 105 my mind was slowly wandering away and i heard something weird popping out of nowhere. but then when i was at 114 a big truck suddenly just drive by my house and i suddenly opened my eyes because of that. I was kinda dissapointed that happened because i had the feeling i was close to either sleep paralysis or lucid dreaming.

Does this actually mean i was close to LD-ing? That is my question, at last

This very much could have lead to a lucid dream. The noises you were hearing are called HH (Hypnagogic Hallucinations), basically just hallucinations created by your brain. HH starts to happen when you're close to a dream, so the next time this happens, try and relax. If you get too excited, this may disrupt your mentality (I mean, you can't sleep when you're over excited now, can you? ).
You were very close to what could have potentially been a lucid dream. Keep up the effort and try it again!
