Yeah I was so shocked when I found out that lucid dreaming was real, that is called a mantra which Bimpo rightly said is part of the MILD technique. It's not a great way to have a lucid dream by itself but you can do it with other things such as; all day awareness; good recall (by writing your dreams down); wake back to bed.

      Welcome to DreamViews, Phill

Yes, that is the MILD technique you are thinking of. In my opinion the MILD is the easiest technique, but in order for it to work, you have to be 100% sure that you will have a lucid dream. Sometimes convincing yourself can be difficult, but once you get it going, It's very easy to have lucid dreams. (at least that's how it works for me) Remember to do Reality Checks, and keep a Dream Journal.

Yeah, lucid dreaming is kinda getting a handful of attention in 9gag. I decided to visited 9gag the other day and was surprised by the popularity of lucid dreaming. But still, their depiction of sleep paralysis is kinda exaggerated plus they only focus on WILD instead of the other easier methods out there. Anyway, I think you're talking about the MILD method. Just keep on practicing and you'll have a lucid in no time .
