      Hello there!

Hi everyone. I am kind of new here. I made an account forever ago when I first got into lucid dreaming, then I kind of abandoned it. I recently got into lucid dreaming again though, so I decided I should come back and get some pointers from the pros! I look forward to interacting with everyone in the near future.

      Welcome to Dream Views

Are you currently practicing any specific techniques?

I do reality checks as often as I remember to. I have been trying consistently to induce a WILD. I usually try to do it if I wake up in the middle of the night. I haven't had any success however. I can never seem to meditate well enough to where my mind is not thinking about anything. I've tried binaurul beats, but I can't get myself into sleep paralysis. Any tips?

If you are looking to use the WILD technique, you should try doing a WBTB (wake back to bed) which is when you get up in the early morning hours and you stay awake long enough to become aware, but not too long that you can't go back to sleep. While you are awake, fill your mind with anything lucid dreaming (I don't recommend the internet because the brightness of the screen can wake you up more). This is how I got about half of my lucid dreams. When I went back to sleep, sometimes I would go through a weird hypnagogia/WILD phase and somehow get into a dream. Either that or it would be easy for me to remember to do a reality check.

While actually attempting to WILD, try not to move. If you move then obviously you are not sleeping, but people take the opportunity to fool their brain into thinking the body is sleeping. Keep a clear mind too so you don't stay awake thinking about life, but not too clear because you want to remind yourself that you are suppose to lucid dream.

For newcomers though, DILD is more common which involves doing lot of reality checks and writing in your dream journal as you probably know.

WBTB sounds like what I've been trying, just to no avail. I will lay absolutely still on my back for 30 minutes, trying to keep a clear mind but I just can't seem to trick my body into sleeping. Maybe it's because I never sleep on my back? I will try again tonight. Thanks for the pointers!

You can WILD in any position, that's comfortable for you, usually it's the position, you normally sleep in. To help you keep your mind clear, try saying your mantra. I usually can't keep my mind empty, but I didn't find that to be a big problem. I just keep saying my mantra (in my mind) in the background and let the thoughts develop into fantasies. When I start seeing swirls behind my closed eyelids, I wait for them to develop into pictures and movies/dreams and then I enter the dream.

Try to experiment with how long you stay up for WBTB. Happy dreams

What mantra do you use? I was reading up last night about it, and this morning I tried "1- I'm dreaming, 2- I'm dreaming, 3- I'm dreaming" ... I fell asleep however and I actually dreamt, but didn't realize I was dreaming.

'I'm dreaming' got me lucid before, so did 'next time I'm dreaming, I look at my hands and realize I'm dreaming'. The second one works, if you also say it during day time while looking at your hands. I also practice daytime awareness http://www.dreamviews.com/f49/sat-sp...puffin-100798/. When you practice this during day, this behaviour will eventually transfer into your dreams.
