      Greetings!

Hello everyone! I am new here to Dream Views, but I have been browsing through some of the forum topics and the dream journals. There is a great wealth of information here, and I can't wait to start participating!

Some info about me and my dreams: I have always had a pretty good ability to recall my dreams with great detail. I rarely ever wrote my dreams down, but I can still vividly remember many dreams, even some that I had over fifteen years ago! My friends always told me that I remembered my dreams so well, and that there were so many details in my dreams. One of the most interesting things about my dreams is that I am not actually in about 1/3 of them. Instead, I play a character in my dream, and I can switch between several characters within the dream scene. It is as if it is a movie, but I get to change up the point of view. I have also had many dreams with completely invented dream characters that I have never seen before in my life.

I have experienced what I believe is labeled "mild lucidity." Sometimes when I am awakened from a good dream in the morning, whether it be the alarm clock or a noise, I will go back to bed (sometimes only for ten minutes or so if I need to get up) and I will put myself back into the dream where I left off. It is a conscious effort to keep the dream going and I am aware that I am in a dream. I don't gain control over what is happening, although once I was able to control a few things, but the dream quickly fell apart and I woke up.

I suppose what I am most interested in gaining from learning to lucid dream is to be able to gain control over what I am doing in my dreams, but not necessarily control everything in the dream. I am certain I will enjoy my dreams more that way if I am able to explore with my own free will.

      Welcome to DreamViews!

What you describe is commonly shared among a lot of people here, so lots of us can relate to that dreamy half-awake, half-asleep state where dreams continue or go off in new directions entirely.

If you click on the Home link in the upper right corner of this page (or any page on the forum) you will be taken to a list of Lucid Dreaming information, including Stabilization, Recall, and Induction Techniques. These could all help you with your goal!

Good to see you have already started your DJ and I saw a post you made in someone else's thread. You're off to a good start!

      Have fun, and post often!

Hello and welcome to the forums. I agree, this forum is full of very helpful people and warm community and also tons of great information on topic. To be honest, I'm quite jealous of your ability to remember dreams clearly.

Next time you have this mild-lucidity, or after you go back to bed and before you fall asleep focus a bit of your mind on becoming lucid (a little mantra in your mind may help here, too). This should help your dream control greatly.

I believe the key element to dream control is realizing all the stuff around. There are no rules and it doesn't hurt saying something like "Hey, this is my dream, I can do ANYTHING I want" and once you know that, your lucidity will improve and you'll be able to control your body fully. That's what helped me, at least.

      Have fun and good luck.

      Hope to see you posting.

      Welcome to DreamViews shadowclaw!

You know, my mom, my brother and I are all able to do what you described. This waking up then immediately reentering the dream while being aware is actually called a DEILD. (Dream Exit Induced Lucid Dream). Sometimes referred to as "dream chaining" DEILDs are a fairly easy method but, like you experienced, a little short-lived. But the good news is you can reenter the dreams many times, allowing you have many 'chapters' of your dream.

If you're interested, you can read up on other Induction Techniques, and also Stabilization and Control Techniques to help keep you from having those dreams "fall apart" as you put it.

Have fun browsing around, and don't hesitate to ask any questions.

      Happy dreaming!
