Emerging from the shadows to say hello.

Hello, everyone! My name is Fredrik, and I've been an avid lurker of just about everything related to Lucid Dreaming since I read about it on Reddit at the dawn of the year. Although having been a registered lurker over at LD4All for some time, I've finally defeated that behaviour to partake in the DreamViews community (you seem like a great, active bunch).

My dream recall is kind of bad, often giving me blurry, staccato depictions of what was going on. My dream journal has been of great help, though. Also, I'm absolutely terrible at falling asleep. I can neither focus nor relax due to my mind racing all the time. Hopefully, those things will make a turn for the better with time.

Fun fact: I've tried taking Pyridoxin (Vitamin B6) and getting as much tryptophan as possible for vivid dreams, but to no avail. Not even 500mg was enough to induce anything in particular within me.

Oh well, pleased to make your acquaintance!

Welcome Fredrik1st Dream journal is definitelly best help in getting your recall up. Try to write in it anything, even if all you remember is single word or feeling. Another good way is to tell yourself a few times as you falling asleep 'I remember my dreams', or something similar.

Meditation can help to quiet your mind - have you ever tried? Now, is this happening always?

Supplements do help, but you can't rely on them too much. One day they give me epic dream with exceptional recall and next time nothing at all. BTW, supplement will not help you get lucid dream, but they may make your experience better. But first, you have to induce a LD by practicing some methods. Have you picked a method yet? If not, MILD/DILD is usually the easiest to start with. Post your questions, we'll be happy to help. Happy dreams

LD4All is the island safe house we retreat to on lifeboats in case of a forum terrorist attack. They're like a vacation home. Good scenery, great hospitality, and an amazing culture; but a little to eccentric to stick around too long before getting home sick.

Welcome to DV. Pull up a chair, have a beer, enjoy a cigar. You'll be here a while.

Indeed: Thank you! I'll check them out. And yeah, I was among the first hundred or so to subscribe. That's what ended up sending me here, actually.

gab: Thank you, Gab! I feel pretty welcome already. I've occasionally been telling myself mantras for some time, but I don't think I'm doing it properly/enthusiasticly enough. I tried practising the simplest of breathing techniques, but I don't think I'm doing those properly either. I'll definitely look into meditation if I find any good how-to's. And yeah, my mind's often on fire as I try falling asleep.
I haven't noticed any difference between the nights I'm taking supplements and the nights I'm not. Perhaps most of it is placebo? Thanks for the advice! Maybe I could try practising both? I'll read up on them, at least, that much I know!

EarthInferno: I appreciate the warm welcome! Great to hear that the journal has been effective!

ExoByte: That depiction was so wonderful that I'll probably start dreaming of it. Thank you! I'll savor every second of it.
