      Hello

Hi. I found this site a few years ago but gave up quickly, since I was pretty young and neive (lol). I've returned and began trying to have lucid dreams again recently and have achieved it once.

I'm a biphastic or polyphasic sleeper. I say this because it changes. I fall asleep and awaken a few times each night and usually sleep in the day, around 2pm, after college - especially recently. I have to sleep in the day sometimes because I just get exhausted - even though I have enough sleep and do nothing. I go to sleep around 11/12pm and wake at 7/8/9am depending on my schedule but I still find myself sooo tired at college no matter what. I'm a young healthy fit kid and all that jazz but I can't help it. This is good for me I guess though since I heard napping is good for REM and lucid dreaming. It's also a time where the house is empty and quiet and nothing disturbs me.

I'll be knocking around asking questions sooner or later, see you around.

      Welcome to DV!

I also need alot of sleep and I can't imagine a better hobby other than lucid dreaming for people like us. Start by working on your recall and practice some daily awareness and then focus on a technique and set up a few goals. You'll get lucid in no time! If you feel like it, you can ask those questions in here.

I have a reminder on my phone and notice to do a reality check every time I look at my phone, which is good. But I am unsure which realiy checks to make a habit. At the minute I just think to myself "is this real, is there anything wierd around" and then look at my hands if not too many people are around to wonder what I am doing (lol) and then I look at my left and right writst to check for a tiny freckle on each arm.

It's not about which RC you choose, all of them should be performed the same way. You notice something strange or extraordinary and you question your reality. You do this by checking your memory, as many of the senses as you like, what you're doing and why you're doing it and then finally you RC. You should also do them spontaneously throughout the day, that way you'll think much more on lucid dreaming and you can daydream a bit, increases my chances of lucidity atleast.

Hey dbee, welcome to Dream Views. Congrats on having one lucid dream! How long ago was that? What was it like?

I don't think you need to worry too much about doing RCs in front of people. I've pinched my nose in front of my family pretty regularly, and no one has given me strange looks. Looking at your hands/wrists or counting your fingers is pretty inconspicuous too. Someone on this forum suggested doing RCs when you're in the middle of something--such as a conversation or an assignment. In dreams people are generally active, so it might be a good habit to RC while you're preoccupied.

The freckle RC is a good idea! It's always good to find a RC that's specific to you.
