Hi all I'm kind of new to this. I found this forum yesterday. But I've had vivid dreams with the nicoderm patch and have loved them all. Even the scary ones. Whenever I try to stop smoking I look forward to the one or two vivid dreams I have and try to write them down. Wondering how I could increase the chances of having a vivid or lucid dream googling brought me here. I've read up quite a bit on how WILD works.

Last night I decided to practice relaxation and believe that although I didn't perform the Awaken or first step of wild. I believe I came close to transition. Here is the entry from my dream journal. Sorry in advance if some of the info is dupe.

Read about WILD (Wake induced lucid dreaming) and DILD (Dream induced lucid dreaming) today. Put a tone on my phone that rings out every 30 min. Whenever I hear the tone I consciously think “Am I dreaming?” I do two reality checks. (1) I place my right middle and index finger into my left palm and press against it to see if it will go through. (2) I look at both my palms for details. This tone rings throughout the day and night. Whenever I hear it I do the checks. Hopefully the audio will come through when I’m dreaming, the checks will fail… lucidity.

Went to bed at approx. 1AM although WILD is not supposed to work in this way I decided to try the technique as practice. I made sure I was comfortable. The room was dark and I adjusted the AC to the best setting. I relaxed. What I experienced occurred over a period of approximately 20min. It took some time and some patience. I decided that I would try and keep conscious and that whatever I saw I would not try to observe too closely, interact with or focus on. I would try to observe as though I was watching a picture slide show. This is harder than it sounds. To keep conscious I would every now and then repeat I am awake. Sometimes I would count “1 I am awake” “2 I am awake” I did this subtly in my head as not to disturb the water.
My memory is not clear on everything but I will try and describe what I saw. At first there were what looked like paint globs. Splashes of not so colourful colour. They would come randomly and not often. They would then fade away. These globs look like the images left on your retina when you look at a light and then close your eyes, they differ in that they have a definite shape. Much like a splash of paint. I maintained a state of relaxation. After a while I would see very faint images that definitely had a structure. I think one was of a bicycle I could see the front wheel and handlebars. Let me point out at this point that what I don’t think any of the images I saw tonight were animated. More like a still photograph.
I believe I saw a house from the outside. Although I have never seen the house before it was somewhere I have been. The image was not colourful and was faint. I tried not to focus. This is again… a lot harder than it sounds. There was then a great event. I think that there might have been a feeling of falling, or a great vibration. I became very scared and got up IRL (In real life). I did a reality check as I have read that sometime you fall into the dreamscape thinking that your awake. I was still awake and still scared. I decided to abandon any more experimentation for the night. I fell asleep immediately.
