      Sleep induced methods necessary?

hi, i've just begun to attempt gaining lucidity in my dreams and was wondering if it's necessary that i use a tape/cd to deepen my relaxation. lately, i've been having very odd dreams and wake up remembering everything.. yet, when i used the sleep induced cd i couldn't help but think it was silly and i couldn't fall asleep and barely remembered my dream. just wondering anytips to attain lucidity as fast as possibile anyways, thanks for any of your help.

Hi, welcome to the board...i'm not sure thre is a 'faster' way to attain lucidity...i think personally it all depends on the person, mainly these factors:

      * The level of recall the person has

*How much they want to have a lucid dream, how dedicated they are to documenting their dreams and performing reality checks. (there's nothing like the power of suggestion!)

*Sleep patterns of the person concerned. An insomniac would probably find it difficult to recall one dream, let alone go lucid (i could be wrong here)

I also think that in spite of how much you want to have a lucid dream, sometimes it just takes time, practice, patience and dedication.
Also trying too hard doesn't actually help. If you go to bed one night and don't have a lucid dream, don't beat yourself up about it. It basically gives you a complex about lucid dreaming, that you can't do it. Therefore, it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.
      (I know,i've been there)
Just tell yourself that it doesn't matter, there's always tonight, or the night after.
For me, it happens when it happens.

Hope this helps! And if you have any more questions, PM a dreamguide! They'll be happy to help you out!

It isn't necessary to have a CD player at all! You just need to have more confidence in yourself!

A Reality Check can be anything basically, as long as it makes you realise you're dreaming.. If you for example somehow think you're having a dream just pinch your nose and see if you can breathe through...And you'll go "hey! I'm dreaming! Coolies"

A reality check is...asking yourself while you are awake during the day.."Am I Dreaming"..you can look at your hands for about 10 seconds...looking closely at the fine lines and all that..and ask "Am i Dreaming" or if anything odd happens to you during the day ask yourself that question--everytime you go to the bathroom, look at yourself in the mirror and ask...Jump up and down and ask.....there are many ways..mine is the hand thing..

      thanks

You see, the short hand is: If you get yourself used to doing reality checks while you're awake, eventually this effort will subconsciously work its way into your dreams.
If you get into the habit of doing things like double checking the clock, with the intention of checking reality, or looking at your hands, and things like that, and then set into your mind the intentions of checking reality while you're falling asleep, it is more likely you'll be ready to check for reality while dreaming.
The transition from subconscious dreaming to lucid dreaming is instantaneous, but you have to have a subconscious will to Want to recognize when you are dreaming. Simply make sure you affirm to yourself that you're going to be checking for dreamsigns while you're falling asleep.
The worst mistake you can make is making too much of a big deal out of it. This can be a self-defeating act which will bring you alot of frustration, as Irish had said. If you start worrying too much about "What will happen if I forget to notice I'm dreaming, and I miss it?! " you're more than likely going to find out. The subconscious mind can be a sadist sometimes. Lol.
But definitely get into the habit of analyzing your waking world, and being ready to contrast it with the dreamworld.
