      Hey there DV!

      Hi there!

A little bit of relevant info about myself. I've been fascinated for quite a while by the notion of lucid dreaming, so I'm quite surprised that I've never run across this site before. Until now I've been mostly experimenting with self-hypnosis (listening to audio) and have often found myself experiencing fairly lucid thoughts (I wouldn't call them dreams) in the process - other than that I've never had a LD.
Still, I have fairly high hopes that I'll be able to apply the techniques discussed on these boards with some level of success.

So, where would you guys and gals point me to first? I want to be able to dream lucidly, but take control of the dream rather than mindlessly following the instructions of a disembodied voice (though that's not to say that I don't enjoy the latter.)

      Hello and welcome Adrenalini

I would recommend that you start building up your dream recall so that you can recall the many lucid dreams that you will have. Once you recall a few dreams per night you should start using a tehcnique. Check out the Wiki section here for comprehensive tutorials . I strongly recommend DILD to start with. Enjoy!

Hey there Adrenalini! Welcome to Dream Views!

I see you've already signed up for the Intro Class, awesome! You'll be having great progress, I'm sure!

Have you started a dream journal yet? Vengeance is right, it is important to establish your dream recall, because there would be no point in having a lucid if you can't remember it. A dream journal would also help you spot recurring elements in your dreams, and not only that, but it's also plain fun to read what your mind has come up for you!

Check out this beginner's guide: http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/beginn...eaming-124786/

I hope to see you around, happy dreaming!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

I agree. If you haven't already started a dream journal, that would be the first step. Start remembering and becoming familiar with your dreams. On top of that, I would start questioning your state throughout the day with reality checks. If you have time, try to add a WBTB once or twice per week. You will be lucid in no time if you hit it from all angles, like this.

Thanks to all of you for the warm welcome and your helpful advice.

I've started my workbook and a dream journal which I'm posting it up here on DV. I'm also trying out the 'poke through the palm' RC on a regular basis.
