dreamt I was visiting a lucidity institute

Hi everyone, my name is Nicole and i have been visiting this site for a couple weeks and am excited to join..
I only found out about lucid dreaming a few months ago, but was interested right away. After starting a dream journal and reality checks, mild, and wbtb(I have two young kids who wake up at night) I was able to have three within a week of each other. It was an amazing experience... They only lasted 5 minutes each, but I was able to create doorways... created a dream character and flew.
In one dream I did a reality check while flying which I find hilarious.
Anyways, I haven't had a lucid dream in a couple months and really want to again, but I feel like it will happen again soon. Like the title says I had a dream last night that I was at a lucidity institute, but didn't realize it was a dream.
well that's it for now... I would just love to connect with fellow dreamers! :-)

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

That's awesome, that you already had some LDs. 5 min is not bad at all, and creating portals and flying is very good, considering these were your first ones.

DJs are great, they will not only help with recall, but with finding patterns of all kinds. MILD is just one of the methods. It can be very usefull, but adding DILD (mantras and awareness) to it will better your chances. And yes, WBTB, even if not exatly voluntary one, makes your chance for any type of a lucid dream even higher.

Not sure which tutorials have you read, som I'm gonna list a few:
      Beginner's guide
      Collection of techniques for DILD
      Intro class
      DILD class
      DV Academy - more classes
      DV Wiki - more tutorials

Looking forward to your questions and experiences. Happy dreams

      Welcome to DV!

You've done more in a week than many people have in months, good job! Five minutes is a very long time in my opinion and is more than enough to do whatever's on your mind. Having a goal on your mind is very important, something you want to achieve and strive towards. You can visualize yourself achieving said goal just before sleep and believe in yourself, that you will get lucid, and your chances of getting lucid will increase tenfold. This is a basic version of "MILD".

Gab gave you all the great links, read up! If you still have questions after those, feel free to PM or just ask in here

Thanks guys! Fan, I will check those out.. matte87, I want to improve my visualization skills, I used to be pretty good at it as a kid... I have trouble quieting my mind so I think I should try meditation, hopefully that should help :-)

Meditation can sometimes feel like you are doing nothing, but with it you can achieve anything

Sorry just had to write something deep as usual ... I love meditation and I love that you want to give it a shot, tell me if you wonder about anything.

      Namaste

Yeah I like the smileys And I agree the guided meditations are really effective and fun! An advice though is to find a guided meditation you like and do it over and over and then when you remember all the steps you can do it yourself without the video.

I used to listen to Monroe's Guided Relaxation and even though I don't use all the steps now, as I try to relax, I still use some of the things I learned from it.

I just started doing some Yoga as well ^-^ I was already very flexible because of my years of Taekwondo so it only took a couple of weeks for me to be able to be able to sit in the full lotus posture for about 10 seconds... (Yesterday actually) And Yoga in itself is a great meditation for learning to control both the body and the mind.

      Good luck and sweet dreams
