      Tibetan Dream Yoga

Does anyone know exactly what this is or where I can learn more about it? I tried googling it but it's hardly ever saying anything in layman's terms. It's all like the Dooki yooko said this and so the Bhodi Sushi did this. It doesn't make any sense.

Okay, so apparently it requires remaining conscious that your real life is just a dream while you are awake. Apparently this carries over into the dream world. Sounds hard! You are suppost to eventually be able to remember 24/7 that you're dreaming whether you are awake or asleep and that nothing is real -- it is all an illusion. Sounds confusing and I would like read more about it -- IN LAYMAN'S terms.

If you really wanted to know you would, since it's all there on the first links when you google Tibetan Dream Yoga. It's also perplexing that you approach a subject you claim you want to know more about, with a mocking attitude.

There is a reason you don't find it in laymans terms. It's an ancient Tibetan Buddhist practice. And the goal of Buddhism is nirvana. So unless that's your goal, it might seem too extreme to do in your everyday "normal" life.

See "Tibetan Yogas of Dream & Sleep" Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche. Haven't read it myself, but I've seen it recommended. From what I understand, it's basically techniques for WILD's.

I tried googling it, and it wasn't a mocking attitude, it was me expressing frustration because EVERY link I found on google took me to some page about the people who founded dream yoga and they used all of these non-name words I never heard before like Sidhi and Bodhi, like they expected I knew what they meant.

The links on google said NOTHING about how to practice it. Just where it came from and that culture of people who practiced it.

      Thanks for caring, though.

I can't vouch for it's validity, but I don't see why someone would fake it so here you go:

Are you actually going to practice it, though? And start living life as a dream? I think I would get benefits from doing so but I just can't do it... I do it sometimes and then do a RC... I think its way better for me that way...

This is a hardcore method. You gotta be real dedicated. I'd recommend taking it in steps and gradually easing yourself into it.

Yeah, I am setting my mind to adapting dream yoga as part of my life. I always knew life was just a dream with consequences and laws of physics anyways. However, I am not going to let go of my life because of this. I will still hold my job and continue body building, to make the dream of life more enjoyable.

Okay, but I've read a bit about it, and isn't just making your self aware at all time? After reading what I read, it seemed like it was more of a never ending RC so you don't actuallyy make yourself think your dreaming, just taking extra attention to any detail and making super detailed mental map of eveywhere your going...

That's how it works. Basically, this never ending RC carries on into every dream you have, so basically every dream you have will be lucid. Sounds amazing, but I am worried it may drive me to insanity after a while. None the less, I am going to master this.

      This is a good introduction:
      http://luciddreamyoga.blogspot.com/2...hilosophy.html

The best book out there is "Tibetan Yogas of Dream & Sleep" by Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, as TTTman already mentioned.

Billybob's tutorial actually has very little to do with dream yoga. In fact, I think I'll look into making a new dream yoga tutorial.

Thank you for the link. I started reading "Tibetan Yogas of Dream & Sleep" this morning. Very interesting and I am committing to reading the whole book. I feel I have a LOT to learn. Also, I am believing this concept of falling asleep in the world of dreams after death, unless trained to recognize it. I have also believe in reincarnation forever, so this book is right up my alley.

It does just feel right for me, too. Especially when you consider how all the descriptions of near death experiences are hugely similar to WILD induced OBE/LDs. What happens after you die can only ever be based on belief, but the experience of dying seems pretty consistently described.

Yeah, man. I think the universe gave us a heart to tell truth from lies and somethings are obviously truth.

Anyways, I have been doing Step 1 of the tutorial, trying my best to remember to make mental notes of where objects are in the same room as me. It's been REALLY hard, cos I have been focusing 100% on writing this new song. It's just hard to focus hard on two things at the same time. Anyways, I am still going. I do definitely feel more aware though. I have also been doing Yoga X as part of my work out regime a couple times a week. That also seems to help my mental clarity and focus.

Okay, I read Billy Bob's tutorial, that's where I got my information but I'll go see your link. I'm actually interested in this. I tried what Billy Bob said but stopped after one day 'cause I wasn't feeling good (mentally) so I thought I just wanted to be unconscious (unaware) for a bit but I think I will restart tomorrow... Just one question though, what do you do when you're on the computer, do you have to be aware of everything (in and out of the screen) or just what's in it 'cause it's kinda hard to do both... But I'll do it if I'm suppose to.

{EDIT} Is Tibetan Yogas of Dreams and Sleep the link you wrote? I'm really interested into this and want to read the best of it.

Actually, I think you are supposed to be aware of the physical world around you constructing a physical map in your head. When you enter each new room, you make sure it connects with your physical map in your head as it was supposed to and that everything in the room is in the right place.

So, when you are using the computer, just stay focused of where you are on your physical map and closely monitor the time, making sure it stays flowing in a way that makes sense. Checking the time periodically is a good RC in and of itself anyway.

      Any time.

When I read, I am constantly performing reality checks just by occasionally re-reading the last sentence I just read. This is another popular reality check. If you read a sentence, then look back and re-read it, but it says something different -- you're dreaming! Haha Well, it is another reality check I have read before. It works just as well as the time check RC.

      No problem. :]

Ugh, this is so hard. Maintaining consciousness through all stages of life, during the day and it sleep seems borderline impossible - and I would think it to be so, if I didn't know there were advance people out there who have mastered this. I am working on building the physical map of reality from which I can lock my awareness onto. That is going to be tricky tho. :/ One bite at a time I guess.
