      Hey everyone.

      Hi everyone.

Just thought I’d give a quick introduction to you all. A few days ago, I had my first Lucid Dream, first that I can remember anyway, and when I woke up I was really confused. At first, I thought it was just a really vivid day dream or something, but I spoke to my brother about this and he said he’s had them too, but he actively tries to achieve them.

He has told me about this before, but I always ignored him until now, when I experienced one first hand. I was told about this site and thought I’d sign up; hopefully this site will help me on my goal of having another one and many more after that.

I’ve begun Reality Checking and am in the process of choosing a technique that I think will work for me. I’ve already started a physical Dream Journal, and I’ve read some of the DJ’s on this site and they are really motivating so I think I’ll be creating one on this site rather soon.

I hope to get to know everyone a little bit better, so I guess I’ll see you all around the forum.

      Welcome Tenacious!

I am glad that the forum motivates you, that's what it's for! And hehe it's funny what one experience can do to you. I have been practising lucid dreaming for very long and my friends often come to me and think I am an expert on dreams and ask me to interpret their dreams... My usual answer is "The best person for that job is the dreamer him/herself but I can try to give an educated guess..." Many of the friends I have just TOLD about lucid dreaming, have got spontanious lucid experiences, which is kind of interesting.

My parents was a little skeptic to lucid dreaming as well at first, but then I had it as my school project and I forced them to listen to my thought and well some days later they both came to me and said "I believe you I think I had a dream like that this morning after falling back to sleep when my sleep alarm had ringed etc." Perhaps the same thing happend to you? After you brother had told you, it sort of was in your subconscious just waiting to give you your first lucid experience.

Sorry... I talk to much ^^ I hope it makes you feel welcomed though, and well if you ever feel like you need some help just ask me, the other Dream Guides or start a thread and we will be more than happy to help you!

So good luck to you and sweet dreams!

Thank you, guys, for the kind welcome.

I got round to creating a Dream Journal on this site and recorded my first one in it. I do have a question though, I've noticed that whenever I record my dreams, I skip from place to place, scene to scene, not having much of a story or plot. Is this normal when you start out, because I've read people's DJ's where they have long dreams which have a plot or a story?

Haha well if you read mine that's because I often skip to record dreams that have no plot and story, and also because dreams with a plot and story is easier to remember.

Just look at this example, What is easiest to remember?

      A. Chair, oranges fans and teddy bears in the yelly fishes of the forrest.
      or
      B. Once upon a time there was a teddy bear that lived in the forrest. His favorite dish was oranges. This little teddy bear was a celebrity and he had many fans... etc.

If I fall asleep stressed I have many chaotic dreams that doesn't seem to makes sense, however when I meditate and fall asleep peacefully I get more calm and coherent dreams.

But it can vary from night to night, as you can see in my dream journal today I had a random dream about Assasins Creed and then about a beach that didn't made much sense. ^^

At first recalling your dreams will feel like random flashes and like snippets from a movie. And it's even worse if it is a chaotic movie like the "A" example.
But with practise you will like you actually experienced the dream and remember it because you experienced it, just like you remember your day because you experienced it. Hard to explain but you'll get the idea

But for now just practise to remember as much as you can.

Yeah, I understand what you mean. Thanks. I'll probably start practising Meditation eventually.

I'll have to check out your last Dream entry because an Assassins Creed dream which turns into a dream on the beach sounds interesting to me.

Welcome to Dream Views! This is the place to be for anyone wanting to learn how to lucid dream. There is no quick answer to your question, but the Dream guide team is here to help you navigate the forum and answer questions. We all have 3 green stars above our avatar. Click on our user name and you can then select private message if you have a question, or you can start new threads. Don't worry about starting threads that have been started before, just try it out, if it ends up in the wrong place one of us can move it for you.

One thing you can do in a post is place a link to another thread. I have done this below. You can click on the colored words to see the new thread. Start with this extra basic one, it will help you read the acronyms in other posts, Help With Acronyms For Complete Beginners

After that one the very first thing you should do is check out basic tutorials. This one covers most of the terms you will see members using in much more depth, so start here, http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/beginn...eaming-124786/

Also be sure to check out the DVA Dream Views Acadamy, click on this link to get there, DV Academy.

Matte , our Dream Guide team leader runs a general lucid dreaming class, and you can join in contests where you gain points for dreams you have. General Lucid Dreaming (Matte87)

Gab , another Dream Guide runs a class that is very valuable to beginners on MILD/DILD, which is by far the best method to start with. DILD (Hukif and gab)

Finally as far as the DVA stuff goes, there is a class on introduction to lucid dreaming. This is a great place if you are just starting out and need a little personal help. Intro Class (OpheliaBlue, RareCola, CanisLucidus, Chimpertainment, Xanous)

Now, on the lighter side, you may be excited to learn to fly! Here is a thread where people explain how they went about learning to fly, http://www.dreamviews.com/f14/can-u-...u-learn-40468/

Then just for a laugh here is a thread where people list all the things they want to do in an LD. It is mostly light hearted and supposed to be funny, http://www.dreamviews.com/f11/1000-t...-dream-104556/

Have fun and good luck with your dreaming!
Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.
