      Greetings!

      Hello everyone!

So this is my introductary thread, huh? Well, let's get started on some basic facts first, then!
I am an 18 year old male from Sweden. I currently study technology, with the specialization of Data/IT, a line which I plan to keep following later on!
.. That wasn't very much was it .. Oh well, on to the next part.

I had my first LD quite a long time ago, and as far as I can remember, I've only had a few. The latest one was a DEILD (this terminology will be tricky to learn), and happened as early as a few days ago. I've had dreams that I've 're-entered' before, but this was the only one I was actually in control of.

It's worth mentioning though, I wasn't aware that it was called Lucid Dreaming until maybe a week ago. I had heard the expression before, but from what I had heard, it was some sort of 'out-of-body experience', and it sounded very hard to accomplish. Not to mention scary, as the sleep paralyzis stories are mostly horrible!

But then, on some random forum, only two days ago even, I saw a thread regarding lucid dreaming, which as well pointed to this site!
Either way, I tried to accomplish my first LD yesterday, using a simple guide I had found, which went something like this:
      - Lay down in a comfortable position
      - Count to ten, and after each count, repeat the phrase 'I am dreaming'.
      - Soon you'll see the black behind your eyelids change. Change it into whatever you want.

So not the most comprehensive guide .. But I gave it a try. After I did it up to maybe, 6, a really odd 'pricking' sensation started at my feet, and with each count it went higher and higher. The black was also moving around, starting to turn white. This startled me enough to jolt back into a fully awaken state.
Were I doing this correct? Is this something that's normal? Hehe.

Either way! This is a very long introduction, and I apologize in advance for any spelling or formatting errors, as I'm writing this on my phone!

I hope I don't come of as annoying, since I plan to stay!

Welcome to dreams views! If you want more information on DEILD, check out:

      dutchraptor's DEILD guide

      and

      yuppie's DEILD guide

for more info! It is a tricky terminology indeed, but check those guides and many more in here, and you'll get the information you need.

DEILD is honestly a variant of WILD in a way, but it is one of the easiest induction techniques to perform if you have the awareness and the intent to be aware that you're awake whenever you're dreaming.

I hope you enjoy your stay, and I wish you luck!

Welcome! I am Swedish as well Hej hej! Varma hälsningar från Malmö till dig ^-^

If lucid dreaming was as simple that you just needed to read a guide to master it, we wouldn't need Dream Guides or maybe not even this forum.

So get the idea of "perfect lucidity method" out of your head, because lucid dreaming is more like learning to play an instrument than to build a furniture from IKEA... You learn the basics, learn a little by little each day, and eventually master it.

The guides and methods should only be seen as tools for you to help gain an understanding of how everything works, but don't see it as a guaranteed way.

So read some basic tutorial about the two techniques or ways to enter a dream: DILD and WILD, then read some different variations of those techniques which is called methods.

DILD =Falling asleep lose awareness -> regain awareness in the drem and get lucid, WILD = Falling asleep without losing awareness and go instantly to the dreamworld lucid without losing awareness.

DEILD is a WILD technique and MILD is a DILD technique you'll understand after reading.

Then read about Dream Journaling because that basically is the first thing that you need to learn in order to get started.

Then choose a method that you like and start practising and also read threads that seems interesting and learn more and more.

I hope you enjoy your stay and that you get sweet dreams also if you need any help feel free to ask about anything.

Linkzelda - Thank you! I'll make sure to read the material you sent me! :3

MasterMind - Thank you, thank you! Då får man hälsa från en annan Malmöbo!
Okay, so my journey should be more or less finding a method that's suited for me, gotcha! I'll look into the methods, although
I've never experienced DILD, I think I'll start looking into WILD more at first.

I got a question though, the part I described in the main post, about the weird sensation as I counted, is that something that occurs 'a lot'? Just a bit worried, eheh ..

Thank you both for the assistance though, I'm sure I'll like it here!

No way! I meet a Swedish guy on a global lucid dreaming forum and you turn out be from Malmö as well! What is the odds?

      Jag addar dig

The weird sensations you are experiencing is in fact signs of the dream. I mean define a dream what is it? A simple definition I use is that it's some sort of awareness of the subconscious, memories and emotions of your mind. Where that exactly is I have no idea although when you experience weird stuff it's usually awareness of something subconscious and therefore it is a part of the dream it's just not as vivid yet. Maybe REM (and all the mechanisms accompanied there) is necessary for the dream to turn out vivid as physical reality although there are people that report to be able to "exit" by just focusing more of their awareness on the weird sensations and perhaps we are all capable of that, it's just that we in REM can do it effortlessely.

And yes those sensations occur as we relax. You can induce them in just a few minutes if you want and actually experience a more vivid daydream than usual.

In fact with practise you can induce it in seconds!

Although the trick for experiencing them as real (as a beginner) and to become your new reality is REM.

So when you look into the WILD tutorials, don't forget to combine it with a WBTB.

Vi hörs! (I'll see you around)

Hehe, I'd say those odds are pretty low! Maybe it's just a dream!

Gör du så, ska acceptera så fort jag kommer på hur!

      -

So, the sensations are part of the dream? Or, somewhat part of the 'pre-dream' stage? If that's a way to call it ..
I've never experienced it during just relaxing, or even all together before. That's why I got so startled from actually getting a result .. I was
honestly expecting nothing to happen, and something did ..

And hm .. Is the WBTB a must in order to do WILD? Since I got this strong buzzing sensation during, uh .. my 'normal' time to go to sleep?

WBTB is not a must, but it is generally more success with WBTB:s so try it before bed and see what happens (not only succes focus) but also rate your relaxation, state of mind, hypnagogic experiences and then compare it to an attempt with a WBTB. It's not fact only statistics so find out your truth with own attempts and experiments.

I'll do that! Got a few good answers about this in my beginners class journal as well.
I did try to initiate a WILD last night, during bedtime, but ended up taking very long to fall asleep and a dreamless night. Could have just been a fluke though,
I'll try it again tonight, and if it takes me too long to fall asleep again, I'll focus on my awareness and keep my fingers crossed for a DILD instead

Welcome to Dream Views! This is the place to be for anyone wanting to learn how to lucid dream. There is no quick answer to your question, but the Dream guide team is here to help you navigate the forum and answer questions. We all have 3 green stars above our avatar. Click on our user name and you can then select private message if you have a question, or you can start new threads. Don't worry about starting threads that have been started before, just try it out, if it ends up in the wrong place one of us can move it for you.

One thing you can do in a post is place a link to another thread. I have done this below. You can click on the colored words to see the new thread. Start with this extra basic one, it will help you read the acronyms in other posts, Help With Acronyms For Complete Beginners

After that one the very first thing you should do is check out basic tutorials. This one covers most of the terms you will see members using in much more depth, so start here, http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/beginn...eaming-124786/

Also be sure to check out the DVA Dream Views Acadamy, click on this link to get there, DV Academy.

Matte , our Dream Guide team leader runs a general lucid dreaming class, and you can join in contests where you gain points for dreams you have. General Lucid Dreaming (Matte87)

Gab , another Dream Guide runs a class that is very valuable to beginners on MILD/DILD, which is by far the best method to start with. DILD (Hukif and gab)

Finally as far as the DVA stuff goes, there is a class on introduction to lucid dreaming. This is a great place if you are just starting out and need a little personal help. Intro Class (OpheliaBlue, RareCola, CanisLucidus, Chimpertainment, Xanous)

Now, on the lighter side, you may be excited to learn to fly! Here is a thread where people explain how they went about learning to fly, http://www.dreamviews.com/f14/can-u-...u-learn-40468/

Then just for a laugh here is a thread where people list all the things they want to do in an LD. It is mostly light hearted and supposed to be funny, http://www.dreamviews.com/f11/1000-t...-dream-104556/

Have fun and good luck with your dreaming!
Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.
