      Hai o/

Hello there. I got bored, and I figure I should introduce myself. I'm usually a ghost on forums, so.

      Where to start?
Uhm, well I guess the reason I ever wanted to start lucid dreaming was, I remember an Archie-cartoon episode where the one brainy kid had made a dream machine for some reason. Archie was able to fly around and defy gravity to his heart's content. I thought, "Hm, I want to do that." But I had never taken action on it. The thing that sort of reinforced this was when I saw Inception.

      Little about me:
I'm an avid gamer. I play mostly FPS' and you can usually find me playing something on Steam. Don't ask for my gamertag or something, as I really hate consoles and their odd interfaces called controllers. If you ever see me, I use SteelDrake in everything I play, so. I'm also a musician/singer; I sing in my high school's chamber choir. Funny thing about that was I didn't even audition. The director just said: "You're singing with me next year." I used to play trombone in band; I would have this year, had my schedule allowed it. I sort of wish I had a trombone still, I really miss playing it. I also own an electric guitar and a bass guitar. I've been neglecting them though, my electric guitar strings are getting all rusty and strange to play on. I'm surprised they haven't broken when I play it.

So, some of the goals in my quest of lucid dreaming:

      • Get Dream Recall to where I can remember stuff every night.
      • Actually be aware of my dreaming, and when I do, to stay aware.
      • Be able to spawn(?) a person of my choice.
      • Perhaps talk to this person as I have plenty of social anxiety.

I'll have more, but I can't think of any other than this at the moment.

      I guess that's it.

      Thanks,
      SD

      Don't get shot.

Welcome to Dreamviews Drake. I hope you like it here. There's tons of nice people on here

First impressions make me think that you are someone who would really enjoy Lucid Dreaming.. then again.. I cant think of anyone who doesnt.. lol

But anyway, here's a DILD Tutorial which is probably the most easiest to get Lucid with. There's another really cool way to get lucid called WILD which stands for Wake Induced Lucid dream, another name for it is Out of body experiences or Astral projection (with the belief that you are in a spiritualist dimension)

I'm just going to say this now, you may not lucid dream straight away but don't let that stop you. Some people try, fail and then give up. That's not how it works. You must try and try until you do succeed. It's not a pass/fail. It's a pass, but just takes awhile. Well I hope this helps.

P.S I also play FPS games on Steam

Tried to edit, but for some reason it's not working.
I've been trying to do MILDs, but when I try to repeat the phrase in my head, I always have a song lingering. I feel like that's making it not work. What can I do to combat that?

I would try relaxation techniques, slow down my breathing, feel my body and mind relax and then start to repeat the phases

Hi SteelDrake :] It's good to meet you!

      Those are good goals.

Ahh so you've got the case of the earworms (or Last Song Syndrome). There are three ways to get rid of that.
      1. Replace it with a different song.
      2. Sing it over and over until it loses its meaning and you get tired of it.
      3. Give it to someone else by singing it near them.

Lol. But yeah, perhaps you can do the mantras to the tune of the song stuck in your head? That can give it a little extra oomph if you sing your mantra. Good luck!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

Welcome to Dream Views! This is the place to be for anyone wanting to learn how to lucid dream. There is no quick answer to your question, but the Dream guide team is here to help you navigate the forum and answer questions. We all have 3 green stars above our avatar. Click on our user name and you can then select private message if you have a question, or you can start new threads. Don't worry about starting threads that have been started before, just try it out, if it ends up in the wrong place one of us can move it for you.

One thing you can do in a post is place a link to another thread. I have done this below. You can click on the colored words to see the new thread. Start with this extra basic one, it will help you read the acronyms in other posts, Help With Acronyms For Complete Beginners

After that one the very first thing you should do is check out basic tutorials. This one covers most of the terms you will see members using in much more depth, so start here, http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/beginn...eaming-124786/

Also be sure to check out the DVA Dream Views Acadamy, click on this link to get there, DV Academy.

Matte , our Dream Guide team leader runs a general lucid dreaming class, and you can join in contests where you gain points for dreams you have. General Lucid Dreaming (Matte87)

Gab , another Dream Guide runs a class that is very valuable to beginners on MILD/DILD, which is by far the best method to start with. DILD (Hukif and gab)

Finally as far as the DVA stuff goes, there is a class on introduction to lucid dreaming. This is a great place if you are just starting out and need a little personal help. Intro Class (OpheliaBlue, RareCola, CanisLucidus, Chimpertainment, Xanous)

Now, on the lighter side, you may be excited to learn to fly! Here is a thread where people explain how they went about learning to fly, http://www.dreamviews.com/f14/can-u-...u-learn-40468/

Then just for a laugh here is a thread where people list all the things they want to do in an LD. It is mostly light hearted and supposed to be funny, http://www.dreamviews.com/f11/1000-t...-dream-104556/

Have fun and good luck with your dreaming!
Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.
