      Hello Everyone!

Hello everyone. The name's Swenny. I have snooped around Dream Views sporadically over the course of the past year or so, and I decided that it's finally time to make an account. I really want to renew my interest in lucid dreaming and get back to practicing, especially with a break from college coming up.

I have had a few lucid dreams in the past year and while they were definitely awesome, they weren't of the best quality. The best way I can describe them is being very distant - like I can remember some of what I was thinking or what I tried to do in them but not so much the scenery/ imagery. This is pretty typical of most of the dreams I recall by the way. I've always wanted to have a dream, lucid or non-lucid, where the senses are really involved and I can clearly remember my surroundings. So that's the goal. Hopefully, I can keep up my motivation with my dream journal this time and increase the vividness of my dreams.

I look forward to seeing you guys around, and hopefully I'll be here for a while!

Welcome to Dream Views! This is the place to be for anyone wanting to learn how to lucid dream. There is no quick answer to your question, but the Dream guide team is here to help you navigate the forum and answer questions. We all have 3 green stars above our avatar. Click on our user name and you can then select private message if you have a question, or you can start new threads. Don't worry about starting threads that have been started before, just try it out, if it ends up in the wrong place one of us can move it for you.

One thing you can do in a post is place a link to another thread. I have done this below. You can click on the colored words to see the new thread. Start with this extra basic one, it will help you read the acronyms in other posts, Help With Acronyms For Complete Beginners

After that one the very first thing you should do is check out basic tutorials. This one covers most of the terms you will see members using in much more depth, so start here, http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/beginn...eaming-124786/

Also be sure to check out the DVA Dream Views Acadamy, click on this link to get there, DV Academy.

Matte , our Dream Guide team leader runs a general lucid dreaming class, and you can join in contests where you gain points for dreams you have. General Lucid Dreaming (Matte87)

Gab , another Dream Guide runs a class that is very valuable to beginners on MILD/DILD, which is by far the best method to start with. DILD (Hukif and gab)

Finally as far as the DVA stuff goes, there is a class on introduction to lucid dreaming. This is a great place if you are just starting out and need a little personal help. Intro Class (OpheliaBlue, RareCola, CanisLucidus, Chimpertainment, Xanous)

Now, on the lighter side, you may be excited to learn to fly! Here is a thread where people explain how they went about learning to fly, http://www.dreamviews.com/f14/can-u-...u-learn-40468/

Then just for a laugh here is a thread where people list all the things they want to do in an LD. It is mostly light hearted and supposed to be funny, http://www.dreamviews.com/f11/1000-t...-dream-104556/

Have fun and good luck with your dreaming!
Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.

      Welcome to Dreamviews Swenny

The vividness will increase in time. When I first started out my dreams felt like distant memories and when I woke up from some aware moments of my dreams, it just felt well very distant, like if you think back to a very old memory. Although now after some time of practising, even my non-lucid dreams are super vivid, I wake up almost every morning with a WTF-shock.

Sort of like you would wake up right now and realize "Wait.. Was that just a dream? Holy macarony!"

The positve side of that is that it's really enjoyable to just dream normally even if I am not lucid, the downside is that it's harder to realize it is a dream because it feels more real.

One good way to increase your vividness of your dreams is to practise dream recall, because when you try to recall your dreams you are in a way setting your intention to be more aware of your dreams, in order to remember them. And intention is (as you will soon learn) a very effective tool for anything, but especially lucid dreaming.

I hope you enjoy your stay and I hope you get many sweet (vivid) dreams!

Thanks for the reply MasterMind! I'm glad to know there is still hope. So do you think that using a mantra like "I remember vivid dreams" could be helpful (in addition to practicing SDA and keeping a dream journal)?

Yeah sure A mantra is a really good tool for setting your intention, although "I remember vivid dreams" is a little misleading, I mean don't you want to remember your less vivid dreams?
So just think about the exact meaning of your mantra so your subconscious doesn't interpret it differently.
