Greetings, new forum member, not-so-new to Lucid Dreaming

Hello folks, I discovered lucid dreaming in 1991 after reading Stephen LaBerge's early book. I've introduced several of my close friends to this over the years, some who went on to become much more successful than me. I've only had a few very lucid dreams, and mostly back in the early 90's. I did reality checks for a while but my motivation gave way to other things - girls, school, surfing. I recently become interested again, and for the last three months have been keeping a dream journal, doing some different types or RCs, trying the WBTB method. My dream recall has been improving over these three months, and I've brushed against lucidity twice but have yet to push through.

I'm getting close, and found this community through the podcasts that OpheliaBlue and RareCola put together, which were very motivating but seemed to end in September. That's a common problem with podcasts, people are anxious to start them but then find they take too much energy and have a hard time keeping them up. Well I hope you can find a schedule that suits you because they were great to listen to!

Welcome to the forum. Doing WBTBs is the best. It's what I've used to get lucid. I'm having the same issue with getting lucid but not having good control.

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

Don't worry man, don't give up. It's not a pass/fail. Just takes time, motivation and patience. Patience brings great rewards. How it was with me was I got really unmotivated because I was failing trying to get lucid and one night, completely unexpected I had an amazing first lucid dream. It blew me away, I could not comprehend what had just happened and that started my journey to learning as much as I could. I have had 25 lucid dreams since I have started learning and some of them were boring, most of them were amazing though

Keep it up and you'll pull through

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

Welcome to Dream Views! This is the place to be for anyone wanting to learn how to lucid dream. The Dream Guide team is here to help you navigate the forum and answer questions. We all have 3 green stars above our avatar. Click on our user name and you can then select private message if you have a question, or you can start new threads. Don't worry about starting threads that have been started before, just try it out, if it ends up in the wrong place one of us can move it for you.

One thing you can do in a post is place a link to another thread. I have done this below. You can click on the colored words to see the new thread. Start with this extra basic one, it will help you read the acronyms in other posts, Help With Acronyms For Complete Beginners

After that one the very first thing you should do is check out basic tutorials. This one covers most of the terms you will see members using in much more depth, so start here, http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/beginn...eaming-124786/

Also be sure to check out the DVA Dream Views Acadamy, click on this link to get there, DV Academy.

Matte , our Dream Guide team leader runs a general lucid dreaming class, and you can join in contests where you gain points for dreams you have. General Lucid Dreaming (Matte87)

Gab , another Dream Guide runs a class that is very valuable to beginners on MILD/DILD, which is by far the best method to start with. DILD (Hukif and gab)

Finally as far as the DVA stuff goes, there is a class on introduction to lucid dreaming. This is a great place if you are just starting out and need a little personal help. Intro Class (OpheliaBlue, RareCola, CanisLucidus, Chimpertainment, Xanous)

I hope to save you some time by giving you a link to a thread we all put together on the topic Sleep Paralysis. There has been so much misinformation and confusion on this topic, that after a few days on the sight, you would surely run into confusing statements refering to SP. Save yourself some frustration and read this post if you want to know about SP, http://www.dreamviews.com/f79/sleep-...lained-136993/

Now, on the lighter side, you may be excited to learn to fly! Here is a thread where people explain how they went about learning to fly, http://www.dreamviews.com/f14/can-u-...u-learn-40468/

Then just for a laugh here is a thread where people list all the things they want to do in an LD. It is mostly light hearted and supposed to be funny, http://www.dreamviews.com/f11/1000-t...-dream-104556/

Have fun and good luck with your dreaming!
Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.
