      Newbee here...

Hello to all. I found this site after having months of extremely vivid dreams, and my journey to figure out their meanings. The dreams are due to a relationship going bad with my ex-girlfriend. We started dating a little over two years ago, but for the past year, its just been off and on...and also very emotionally draining.

I also used to experience sleep paralysis very frequently, sometimes 3 times a week. I haven't had an episode in a few weeks, but it'll come around sporadically.

Looking forward to reading other user's experiences and finding the meanings to my own!

I'm confused because I believe they can be interpreted, and if they can be interpreted..then shouldn't they hold a meaning? Ie, if I say in Spanish, "yo tengo hambre", it's translation is "I have hunger"...but its meaning and interpretation is "I'm hungry".

      Please enlighten me.

That's a little short-sighted, sir. Or you have grossly misworded your post.
It is true that some dreams are probably meaningless. But not only can one never say definitively, that "dreams do not have meaning", but there is evidence that many dreams do have meaning, especially if they are recurring.

Some dreams are just reaction to our everyday lives. But some dreams could definitelly have a meaning. But I would take with grain of salt those interpretations, that say, for example, dreaming with something means this or that.

Sure there are some universal symbols, that could mean pretty much the same for everybody. But most of the time, best person to interpret a dream is the dreamer himself. Just because different things mean something different to me than to others.

Lets say you dream with a snake - if you love snakes and have them at home as a pet, the meaning to you will be different than to the person who is affraid of them.

Place to post your dream is Dream Interpretation forum. Happy dreams

I am not a dream interpretation expert, but it seems to me that those dreams that derive from one's subconscious are those that are hardest to interpret (aside from those that have no meaning. :p). However, I think that one's best hope for interpreting such a dream lies in the consideration of the fact that the subconscious speaks in concepts and peptides. Your consciousness doesn't know what coffee is, but it does know what a rush of caffeine feels like. It does not know who mother is, but it does know the feelings that accompany her presence. When these concepts are "spoken" through dreams, they may manifest in ways that ALSO trigger the same feelings. If your consciousness is thinking about the safety that comes from shelter, it may manifest as something else that makes you feel the same way, such as a warm blanket, or memories of a happy (safe) childhood.

Or not. In which case, I'm completely wrong.
