      Welcome me.

      Hello all.

After a lifetime of suffering from horrific nightmares and the terrors of sleep paralysis, what an exciting discovery it was when I was first introduced to the concept of "lucid dreaming." I have already stumbled my way into a few lucid dreams by sheer chance, but with your help I hope to learn and develop techniques to deliberately induce these dreams and to hone my skills in sustaining them. Certainly, after briefly reading a guide on this forum last night and testing it out during sleep, I have already experienced my first self-induced lucid dream!

I look forward to sucking up the knowledge and advice on this forum like a dry sponge, and perhaps even helping some of you in your quest to be the best goddamn lucid dreamer you can be!

Please, welcome me to the community and make me feel at home.

Welcome, DukeOfEarl! I also often suffer from sleep paralysis and I'm hoping learning to lucid dream will help. Congrats on already inducing a lucid dream!

welcome DukeOfEarl . I think you have a lot to look forward to in the realm of Lucid Dreaming. I to spent a good part of my life having one nightmare after another. I remember the first day I woke up after sleeping all night without a bad dream. What a relief. I was so excited. It was so easy to get rid of the nightmares, it was stupid I put up with them for so long.
Anyway welcome, hope to see around here often

It's reassuring to hear from others who have managed to use lucid dreaming techniques in a positive way to overcome the unpleasant experiences that sleep can bring. As much as I am eager to experience flying, dream control and whatnot, I must admit my main motivation to master LDs is for the very purpose of banishing these nightmares forever!

debrajane, my name is if course taken from that great song! Have you heard the original Gene Chandler version? Superb. I read your DJ entry - what a peculiar dream. It is baffling what our subconscious can come up with. I wonder, do you think dreams like that are an attempt by our subconscious to communicate some sort of deep message to us? Or do you think they are just as random as they appear to be on the surface? I've often wondered that.

Yes I do think that "The Observer" (the "us" without ego or attachments) attempts to contact us to communicate to us through the subconscious and synchronicities.

My mum could tap-dance and high-kick and dads name was Ron Dixon. So when I found your reply just now and searched Youtube for a Gene Chandler version of Duke of Earl I was impressed with the one below

Welcome! l know you'll enjoy your stay. For me, ld's have helped me see the 'dream aura' that is evident in every dream. Eventually, even slightly freaky dreams may not faze you!
If you see a strange typo in my post, blame my iPad for that.
