      Hey DV!

Hey DV. I'm GenericLDer. I'm 15 years old. Despite my username I have never had an LD. I heard about LDing last year in a movie called Waking Life. At first I was very skeptical that it was possible to control ones dreams. I forgot to search it up and basically dismissed it until about a week ago. My brother and I were talking about waking life and the topic of lucid dreaming came up. I told him I thought it was impossible and he laughed and replied "I do it all the time". He told me about DV so here I am. From what he said it's a friendly community and an active forum. I read the tutorial for DILD. I was thinking about trying WILD but my bro said there's no point. According to him it's terrifying because of sleep paralysis.

I look forward to learning how to LD!

      Welcome to DV!

Waking life is a great movie, I watched it two days ago for the third time Lucid dreaming is indeed real and it's amazing. Read up on the different techniques and remember that dedication and persistence is what's going to get you lucid. As for WILD, it might be a tricky technique for most people but it's not that hard for some. Why fear SP? Sure you might hear, feel and see weird stuff but if you know it's just imagined things that can't harm you in any way, so why worry? I think SP is amazing, I get these seizures whenever I enter SP and I've had epilepsy so it's kinda freaky. I only have to relax and visualize some dream scene I want to enter and all of a sudden that thought goes solid and soon I'm in the dream.

I personally have never performed a WILD but I wouln't be afraid of Sleep Paralysis. But feel free to research other ways of inducing a lucid dream. Welcome to Dreamviews

It is perfectly ok to be only interested in dream induced lucid dreams, or not. What I think makes LD so amazing is that it is such a rich hobby with so many options, and thus whatever your preferences are, chances are you will find something that appeals to you in LD if you are willing to keep an open mind about it.

Don't listen to your brother about Sleep Paralysis! It is only scary if you think it going to be, it is actually really cool if you look forward to it instead of being scare of it. When your goin to WILD Just don't think about the SP (Sleep Paralysis) and only think about it if you have to and even then, dismiss the fact that anything that happens during it not real. And hey, not every one experiences SP so there might be chance you don't even experience it either!

Thanks a lot guys! I'm a lot more open minded to trying WILDs after browsing the forum a bit. I've already had 2 lucid dreams now since joining!
