I think the broken computer stands in for your broken relationship. I don't think it is a coincidence that there is also a saying "stop pushing my buttons" -- I think part of you may be concerned that the fact that your relationship with this friend did not work was your fault, that if only you had not pushed his buttons, it would have worked out. My thought on this: it takes two people to sustain any relationship or friendship and if the relationship does not work out, the fault is rarely just with one person. I hope you stop blaming yourself for all that went wrong, that you are able to find peace with yourself.
