I had my first lucid dream but I panicked and woke up.

It's kind of hard to explain. I was kind of half-asleep half-awake, and I decided to do a RC. I held my nose, and I could breathe. So just to make sure, I held out my hand and said "apple" an apple appeared in my hand. But when I started to get out of bed (in the dream) I blacked out and woke up in the real world. Why did this happen? I didn't freak out, I just kind of panicked a little.

Congrats on that lucid, good catch.

Not to worry, your first few LDs can be a little unstable without practice. My first one I woke up before I could even get out of bed.

Just try to stay calm when you get that lucid moment and try a technique to stabilize the dream. Interacting with the dream scene works pretty well for me as far as stabilization goes.(Touching things, smelling things, etc..)

Congratulations! Yes, first lucid dreams are often short like that. Actually you did very well managing to make that apple appear! In my first lucid I woke up before managing to ackomplishment anything other than determine it was a dream, and the first thing I tried woke me up right away. So you did well for a first time!
You may say I'm a dreamer.
