could i have dreamt about having a lucid dream?

      hi,

sometime last week, i dreamt that i did a reality check, i was laying on my belly outside the library at school, and then randomly asked myself if i was dreaming. i slowly started floating about 25 feet up into the air and over what looked like a much more vegitated version of my school, i felt exhilarated and i was thinking to myself things like "wow, im finally lucid dreaming" and things like that.

i was still the victim of the dream because i couldnt control it, i couldnt move my limbs or look at my hands but if i focused on certain things they began to look more realistic, the dream just rinsed out and i woke up.

could i have just dreamt of having a lucid dream?

      comments would be appreciated
      jack.

      Welcome to the forums .

I think that dream was infact a lucid dream as you became aware in that dream, even if you have no control it can still be a lucid dream. I think anyway, dont take my word for it .

The moment you said "wow I'm finally lucid dreaming" was the moment you became lucid. No matter how much or how little control you have, you were still lucid. Control is just the icing on your lucid cake.

Hey mate, as the others said this is lucid. I also had my first decent one last night, at least in recent times after learning about it and I had little control as well. I tried to fly but could not take off, so basically I was just a passenger through the dream cycle but aware I was dreaming, is almost like being an observer. Really is a beautiful thing even if you are not creating and just a passenger because you can avoid getting swept up in anything that happens and still control things on an emotional level, straight away this has helped the vividness and quality of my recall, which will of course help going lucid in the future.

      thanks everyone,

so what can i do to control the dream?

most of my dreams are extremely vague and i very rarely get the opportunity to physically feel things, like the breeze against my face or someone touching me.

Hey there jack, you can practice some stabilization techniques to help ground you into the dream and prevent you from waking up or losing lucidity immediately.

      Check these out:

      http://www.dreamviews.com/attaining-...-tutorial.html

As for dream control, uhhhh, something's up with the tutorial link but I'll get back to you on that. The good thing is dream control gets better the more you try and the more you have lucids. Think of it as any other skill you have to practice to get better at

      Welcome to DV!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

I am just as new as you but everyone links this,

Seems I can not post a link but it is to the sticky: Collection of Techniques and Methods for DILDs, under current courses - DILD

You almost have to take it up as a serious hobby, work on it daily. I suspect working on recall and keeping a dream journal is one of the big keys, how well you recall essentially reflects vividness, awareness and length of dreams. I would try working on the mantras, a single RC technique but most of all your recall, journal as much detail as you can.

Well I am just starting out, I could be wrong but I feel more comfortable and putting my focus on a single technique for the time being, which is checking my hands and thumb through the palm, sort of two but they go together

Correct me if I am wrong but at the end of the day it is more about awareness than any RC anyway? I get the impression practising RC's is more about developing awareness than doing the actual RC and eventually becoming lucid will become more natural.

      Exactly!

Yep, same thing. RCs just confirm suspiccions, they are not the lucidity cause (mostly, anyway...)

Heh, for dream control, what do you need? For example, if you want to fly, you could get wings, or a jetpack, or for teleporting try spinning (which also stabilizes dreams).
