Wink This happens every time I try to lucid dream!

OK so I actually tried lucid dreaming for the first time about a year ago. But I kept on getting on and off of it because the first couple of days of trying a would get a lucid dream, and then I wouldn't be able to get another one. But now I am determined to become a lucid dreamer. Can someone please tell if something weird is going on or if it's normal then give me some tips on how to fix this. I do reality checks all the time and I do lucid affirmations before bed, and sometimes I meditate. HELP!

It's all good! No worries I had my first lucid dream just the night after I got to know about it and then I didn't have any lucid dream for about 2 months.... So you might call my first lucid dream pure luck I guess.

You just need to find a nice routine that suits you. As long as you are consistent, keep up your practice and stay motivated, you will soon have more lucid dreams Noone can really tell you how long it takes. You just need to tell yourself that you can do it.
Have you got a dream journal? That's also really important to improve your dream recall and to analyse your dreams. You might also want to try WBTB and combine it with another technique that you like.

Thanks! Yeah, I sort of have a dream journal it's more of a daily blog on tumblr, because I generally have good dream recall. I think I need to try and use different methods, rather than doing the same one every night.

That's a good start then I usually have a little notebook by my side in bed (which looks appealing to me so that it doesn't feel like a duty writing in it but much more like a fun thing to do).

Yes, you can try out different methods, but you shouldn't be disappointed if they don't work after one or two tries. Usually something takes a bit more time to work. Of course you can swap techniques to see which one you like most, but personally I would stick with one technique for at least a few months before giving up on it and trying something totally new
What are you planning to try out?

Yea..what Benni said. When I first found out about lucid dreaming I had one the very same night. Then nothing for like a month. No matter how much I did reality checks or mantras before I went to bed. No matter how well organized and up to date I kept my DJ. Nothing. Then I took a break and that's when I started spontaneously lucid dreaming. I stopped trying so hard and they came naturally. Besides DILD, the only other technique that worked best for me was FILD. I prefer DILD however, because they were always the longest, most vivid dreams and I didn't have to do much to control them. Anyways, there are tons of techniques out there for you to try so don't give up if one of them doesn't work. Keep doing your RCs and recording your dreams. Just don't get yourself too worked up over it because this is suppose to be a fun thing not a chore. Eventually, with time, you will become a Lucid Dreaming Master.
