Hello from the Newbie Lucid Dreamer!

Okay so I might be *slightly* untruthful in my title. Technically I'm not a lucid dreamer yet, but I hope to be! I've been interested in lucid dreaming for a long time now--at least around 8 months maybe longer. I went through a phase where I actively attempted it, and was even successful once with a DILD. That said, it was the only one I could manage, and I got frustrated and ended up giving it up for months. Now, I'm trying again more ferverently than ever, and with a better attitude. I'm not letting myself get frustrated, just taking it one day at a time and practicing, practicing, practicing.

I've been trying an odd mix of MILD, WILD, WBTB, and other methods. Problem for me is, I have pretty sucky dream recall right now--I've been working on that, but it's pretty hard to keep a dream journal when all you remember about your dream is "it was something about plants," LOL.

Anyway, I've been reading some of the posts here, and I have to say I am very impressed. Awesome forum, and great to find a place with a bunch of Lucid Dreamers who can help steer my own LD adventure in the right direction!

One last thing before I go my merry way and this is more for the admins and mods here...I know another person, my mother, who will likely be joining. The thing is, we share the same internet--I log in via her router. So, we will have the same IP address as one another (we use satellite internet). That said, we are NOT the same person, so when she does join, please don't ban our accounts thinking I'm developing a split personality LOL.

      Cheers from Alaska,

      ~The Silver Wolf~

      Hey and welcome
Wow, you seem to be really motivated and stoked! That's really cool. I guess everybody knows this... some sort of frustration at times, but that's a part of the learning process as well. Concerning your dream recall I highly reccommend this guide here: http://www.dreamviews.com/dream-sign...ompendium.html. It's really helpful no matter whether your dream recall is good or not quite so good.
Concerning your techniques: I don't want to influence you on that point, but I personally would reccommend to stick with one method for at least 2 weeks before you add another one and I would wait even longer untill you completely change a technique. So for example you might want to combine WBTB and MILD for a month and see how it effects your recall. You can also use some daytime techniques like ADA to improve your awareness during this time.
If you have anymore question, feel free to ask.

Thanks for the welcome and the advice. I really am motivated and excited by the idea--maybe a bit too much as my failed WILD attempts tend to frustrate me after a while :S

I'll take a look at that dream recall link--I can use all the help I can get in that area. There is something to be said for keeping a dream journal, I must say...it's working, albeit slowly. With some of the dreams I've been remembering, I have to wonder about my sanity....flying fish were part of one dream I had the other night, and I have to question just WHY I didn't pick up on such an obvious dream sign O_O

      Anyway, see everyone forumside!

Hahaha no need to question your sanity! Wouldn't dreaming be kind of boring if nothing special ever happened without any logical flaws and irrational things?!?! I have had the craziest dreams and those are usually the coolest and most vivid.

Oh yeaaa who doesn't know this...? Writing down a dream in your dream journal and just being unable to grasp how much you just passively ignored all those impossible things that happened... "Oh yea flying fish, pink dogs, thousands of snakes in my room. Seems to be normal so I'll just forget about it and definitely not do a Reality Check as if nothing happened." - Crazy isn't it? One more proof that awareness really is the key for lucid dreaming! Noticing things that are out of place makes lucid dreaming so much easier.
