Hello dreamers! Had my first LD experience!

Hey everyone that's reading this! I've been a huge fan of lucid dreaming ever since I heard about it (about a year ago). I went on a spree reading about all the techniques and strategies but never really followed through with it. However everytime thoughts about LD crosses my mind, I just do a few reality checks (checking my watch/fingers, questioning reality, being more aware) and then move on with my day. Sad thing is, I absorbed all this information but never bothered to go 100% through with them but...

Finally, I had my first real LD yesterday! I was especially tired due to some medication I was taking that made me fatigued so I decided to take a nap. and lo and behold, I was in my school courtyard. Then I realized I graduated and had absolutely no reason to be in my school and lucidity came upon me. I was amazed and just took a few moments to absorb what was going on around me, kids running around, people studying, etc. Colors seemed to be brighter/ stood out more and then I remembered to try something I always wanted to do and to try and FLY!

I'm a newbie so I don't really know how I did it but I had a running start and then just jumped and managed to 'glide' through the air. Because I was aware, I sort of just told myself to "will" it, and it worked! But one strange thing I remember was that my running start and glide was 'slower' than normal time. The feeling that coursed through my veins was insane though...like 100x adrenaline + just general feelings of euphoria, made me really happy. (Running to get that head start before my jump felt like I was moving through water and I didn't fly as fast as I wanted to ): Any tips on this?)

Also! Another thing I failed to do was that in mid-glide, I tried to conjure up fire balls with my hands to throw around just for fun heh, but I tried to WILL it and make it happen but it didn't work. Maybe I'm just new and not too good at control yet.

and then I decided to close my eyes and will the fireball to happen again and when I opened my eyes, I was in my room ): but the funny thing is....it was another dream?? I didn't realise it at first, so I did my usual thing, got out of bed and opened the door and my dad was right outside my room...scared me so i did a little jump and I hit the ceiling of my room....and then touched back down. At that point I was like "wtf", can I do this in real life too?! so I kept hopping up and down and saying "dad, look at me, I can fly!" but he didn't respond...and then I got a little scared and woke up for real.

So yeah, that was my first experience but that feeling of euphoria stayed with me throughout the rest of the day and I guess I'm just 'hooked' onto lucid dreaming now. Any suggestions on what to do from here on out?

      Congratulations and welcome!

My advice would be to just keep at it, and keep practising, experimenting and evolving your technique to suit you even better than it does now so that you have a surefire way of getting lucid. You could also practise awareness during waking life and in your dreams to make them longer and more vivid Happy dreaming!
