Hey, I'm 24 and from the UK. I spent a short time a few years back trying to learn lucid dreaming but life got a little crazy and it just fell into the background. A fully lucid dream is a rare one for me naturally but I do quite often have dreams where I know I have some kind of power I shouldn't (like flying/changing things). My dreams have been getting really abstract lately and for some reason it keeps reminding me of lucid dreaming. After waking from a really strange dream today during a nap I managed DEILD a little. I tried to look at my hands to check because I was still in the same room but this seemed to just send me back to the waking world. I then did it again and walked to my kitchen and tried to run the tap but again this seemed to make the picture go funny and I ended up awake again. Unfortunately after this I dreamed I was awake continuing my day so was unable to try again. Anyway all of this is why I'm here making this post. I really want to start a dream journal so I can remember more of my increasingly abstract dreams. Can't wait to get to know some of you guys and read some more of the threads. I don't know why but I love reading about other peoples dreams. As I have already explained in this thread, dose anyone know why my hands and running a tap might have broken my dreams?

Also check out this section of our forum Lucid Experiences. I am not sure why you lost lucidity. Usually looking at hands is used to stabilize a lucid dream. However, it is not unusual for people to lose lucidity, and a lucid dream turning into a no lucid, and sometimes it is hard to pinpoint the reason. Could be not enough awareness, could be getting distracted and too caught up in the dream, could be some other reason. It happens. Wishing you many successes in LDs to come. Enjoy the forum! All of these tutorials are written in a very stream lined fashion, and contain just the basic fundamental steps you will need to get started. Also be sure to check out the DVA Dream Views Acadamy, click on this link to get there, DV Academy. Lots of classes are offered on a range of topics. If you are new to LDing then join the intro class, Intro Class. In that class you start your own work book in which you can ask for help on any part of the LDing process you don't understand or are having trouble getting. A whole group of helpful people will read your questions and offer their help. I hope to save you some time by giving you a link to a thread we all put together on the topic Sleep Paralysis. There has been so much misinformation and confusion on this topic, that after a few days on the sight, you would surely run into confusing statements refering to SP.
