I am scared that I can naturally lucid dream?

Hello, my name is Audrey. I just joined this site today. I just started lucid dreaming out of nowhere since last night, and I am pretty freaked out about it. I did not purposely try to lucid dream or try in any way. It just happened. I am 19 years old, going on 20. I have never lucid dreamed before in my life. I had a bad nightmare and woke up at about 5 am. I then went back to bed after being up for a bit, and that was where my body was connected to my dreams, and I could control what I was doing by moving my hands which would then occur the same in my dream, as well as I was fully aware that I was dreaming. It's like I am half awake and half asleep. Then the second time at around 7 am I went back to sleep and it happened. I ended up flying above a lake by my own control, and evaded what would be a nightmare. This is something new to me and I just don't know what to think about it. Please help, I'm scared and I need information or encouragement.

Scared about what? You should be happy about that, not scared. You had a lucid dream last night but that means nothing; you don't need to try to have a lucid dream, most people have had a lucid without even knowing what is it; I had a lucid years ago and didn't even hear about them. Now you're the one who needs to know if you want to have more or not

sup Audrey, you picked the right site for info on lucid dreaming and anything dream related. the first thing I wanna tell you is that there is nothing to be afraid of. dreaming, as you know, is a natural process, and lucid dreaming is just being aware of that process. what you experienced that night was just the awesomeness of having your first lucid dream. at the end of the day, or when you wake up, you know it's just a dream regardless of how real it is. apart from that, just don't worry about it man; if your LDing without trying and having some good dream control, go with it. but let me stress again, there is no way you can be hurt by lucid dreaming, apart from lost sleep . from one dreamer to another STAY LUCID BRO!!!

I think it's just the fact that my whole life I have had dreams every night in which I was not aware. So it's unknown and foreign to me is all. Just something new that I'm not used to. That is the reason why I am scared. I will do my best to have fun with it if it does come around frequently. I think it could be used as a great tool to evade nightmares, since I used it to my advantage for that same reason last night. I enjoyed flying over a great big lake with bushes in it last night. It was enjoyable; being in control. We will see if the lucid dreams come around again tonight or soon. Thanks for the advice and feedback. I'm not ungrateful at all. Just a new experience is which I am not used to experiencing. It's very true that it is just a dream at the end of the day. I'll try not to worry, and go with the flow the best I can. Lol. Also, thanks for the encouragement and kindness, Percent. I have anxiety in my day to day life so that could be apart of me freaking out initially, but it's not needed as I realize. It could be fun to have the ability.

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

I don't think you are ungrateful. As you say, you are just trying to find out what the heck happened : D

So yeah, lucid dream is just a normal dream, in which you suddenly have access to some of your daytime memory. So you realize, your physical body is safely asleep in your bed. And since you know you are dreaming, you can take control of your dream and do anything you can think of. Or just go with the plot and let it surprise you while knowing, that if anything happens you don't like, you can change it to something else.

Many kids discover lucid dreaming same way you had. While having a nightmare. But the proces is totally natural, there is nothing wrong about it, and it's completely safe. We all here are learning different methods how to achieve them.

Check out our Dream Control section and this thread http://www.dreamviews.com/dream-cont...ol-powers.html, and also http://www.dreamviews.com/general-lu...cid-dream.html

Please ask any questions you may have. Happy dreams
