      Newbie! Need help!!

      Hey!
Ellen here. Recently ive been getting that feeling of a weight on top of my body when I wake up during the night and try to get back to sleep. I lose feeling in all my body and can't move however I can just about move my fingers or toes and have to jerk myself to wake up. I'm terrified of this lucid dreaming.. can anyone explain what I should do to make it not so scary for me? It happens quite a lot, the reason I am so terrified of lucid dreaming is because I had a horrible dream before of being attacked by demon like creatures and I couldn't get away from them and id prefer if I didn't experience this again! So can anyone help me? Thanks

Welcome! What you're experiencing is probably sleep paralysis. Before the name scares you; it happens every single night, to everyone, so our real bodies don't act out our dreams. So it's actually nothing to be worried about!
If you do happen to wake up while still in sleep paralysis, keep calm and try varying your breathing to let your body know you are awake now and it's time to turn paralysis off. Try not to jerk out of it as that may make it last longer, as the body may think you are still sleeping/dreaming.

Lucid dreaming is great, there are no reasons to be afraid of it (as far as I know) If you are having nightmares I would recommend giving lucid dreaming a try, as it can help you get over them e.g. by turning the demons into cake or similar.
You may or may not be aware of this, but you can do whatever you want in a lucid dream, literally anything (except maybe time dilation) but you get my point.

I'm sure people much smarter than me will link you to some other threads where you can learn more about this stuff! But feel free to PM me you have any other questions, or post it in a thread on the forum!
      See ya!

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

Yes, as mentioned above, it's possible to wake up in SP. And also as mentioned, it's nothing to be scared off, since none of that can hurt us in any way. Think of SP as something that can get you to a lucid dream. Although it's not part of lucid dreaming, since it can't be induced, but if you wake up at night and find yourself in SP, it just means that your body is already super relaxed and you could be able to enter LD.

Dreams and hallucinations (what we may or may not see during SP or WILDing) are greatly influenced by what we think and expect. So if you thinking about something nice or happy, your excperience will likely be as such.
