      Am I doing this right?

Hi, I'm Chloe, a new member to this website. I've recently started trying to lucid dream and using Google and some other websites, these were the main things which came up:
      • Keeping a dream journal
      • Performing reality checks
      • Repeating tonight I will have a lucid dream before falling asleep
      • Thinking about past dreams and what you would like to lucid dream about before falling asleep
      • Setting an alarm for around 4:30am and staying awake for fifteen minutes
      • Having dream triggers like looking at your hands and telling yourself you will see them in your sleep.

So far I haven't had any success but I don't think I've been full motivated either. Will I get anywhere using these methods if I'm properly motivated or are there any better ones?
      Thanks for any feedback

All of those sounds great. Try not to be too motivated though, might just work against you. Generally just thinking more about dreams and stuff like you mentioned help. Welcome!

Hi ChloeB, I would suggest that you take a look at the tutorials part of Dream View's forums and check out all the different techniques, you should find something that suits you. But as for the method you're using now, it sounds alot like MILD(mnemonic induced lucid dream) and a little bit of DILD, which depending on the person, it will take time to see some results, everyone is different though. Stay confident, determined, and especially persistent and soon you should start seeing some results. And definitely keep up on that dream journal, it will help you remember all of your dreams with some practice- which is a fundamental in becoming a better lucid dreamer. If you have any other questions Id be glad to help.

      Welcome to the forums!

I am a dream guide, so I am here to answer any questions you might have about lucid dreaming. Anything! So make sure you message me about any!

It truly depends on how you are doing reality checks.

Most people that are new at this don't do the truly important thing, and that's actually questioning your reality.

A lot of people mindlessly just do RCs, and I am hoping this isn't the case with you.

You truly have to ponder if you are dreaming. Question it. Really hard!

Anyways, again, welcome to the forum and message me with any questions you have.

      Cheers,

      -Dezz

      Welcome to Dream Views!

You'll eventually get somewhere doing those. There are multiple methods, you can view the tutorials for them around the website. Try and find a method that best suits you, it'll be more effective. It took me a week exactly to have my first. Some people have them the first night, some don't for a while, it's different for everyone.

Keep at it and you'll get there in no time, good luck.

PS. Head over to chat some time, it's a fun place to get help or have a normal conversation. It's just been put back up so it could use a few more members to keep it lively.
