      Hello, long time lurker here

      Hi everyone!

Like the title says, I've been lurking on the forums for a few months now, and only decided to make an account now. Hopefully by joining this forum I can get some help with my lucid dreaming endeavors

I've been really interested in lucid dreaming lately and started trying around September of last year or so. I suppose I've had moderate success - a few LDs (~15 or so?) but none of them were particularly vivid or long, and some of them only lasted a minute. I think the problem might be because I've had trouble with motivation and consistency (jumping from technique to technique, etc). The only thing I've been doing pretty consistently is dream journalling, mostly because I don't mind writing down my dreams that much.

My plan is to get a relatively regular sleep schedule down and focus on just one technique for a few weeks, but I'm not sure what technique to use. I've had a few DILDs and (unintentional?) WILDs, as well as LDs because of FAs (not sure what to call those). Recall-wise, I can remember at least one dream a night if I get enough sleep, though lately my recall has been waning :/ I'd like to try WBTB, but the past few days I've had trouble falling asleep, so I don't know if I want to risk losing hours of sleep...

Oh, and regarding RCs, I'm trying to do them when I remember to (nose-plug, look at hands, check surroundings, things like that).

My question is, what technique would you recommend I focus on, and am I heading in the right track? Thanks

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

Since you have already had some LDs, looks like you are doing it right.

IMO, until you reach your first LD, it's best not to jump from one method to another. But once you past that, it's ok to practice for all of them. The practice is basically the same for WILDs (DEILDs) and DILDs. The only difference is the time of attempt.

For a DILD, you practice RCs, awareness and mantras during day and as falling asleep. This will also help when you WILD.

For a WILD, you also practice during day, same as for a DILD. But for a WILD, you do need a WBTB. If you having trouble falling back asleep, then attempt after getting up to restroom. Or if you have time, try a morning or early afternoon nap. Naps are great, because they put you almost instantly into REM.

DEILDs - you just be ready for these at any time you wake up at night or in the morning.

So what I would suggest is to re-read tutorials for all 3 and be attempting them all, since they are all happening at different times. No need to pick just one method.

If you realize you are dreaming when having FA, that would be a DILD.

Great job on dream journaling and all your lucids so far. Glad to have you on the forum. Happy dreams.

      Welcome to DV!

I would recommend focusing on whichever technique you find most comfortable. I agree with gab, that LD's from FA's are DILD's.

Personally I prefer DILD but I'm not very dedicated to the cause and haven't really been successful...

Thanks for the advice guys I guess I'll try out a few techniques before figuring out how I can mix them together.
