Hello! Just started lucid dreaming, I need some help!

Hello, so recently i've been able to enter a dream through DEILDs...but it's short lived. So far the 3 times I have tried i'm able to feel myself float out of my bed, the feel myself move around and feel the walls. In a few more seconds I begin to see the dream version of my house. But everything is dark. It's murky. I've told myself "There are pills in my pocket and when I take them everything will be more vivid." I take them, I rub my hands together and shout things like "INCREASE VIVIDNESS...MORE CLARITY!" But they haven't been working. I've been doing these in the morning after I wake up for the first time. It's like when you wake up on a weekend, and keep going back to sleep and have a string of short naps. So my question is, is there any other trick I can start using to stabilize my dreams? Or if there's a better time to be doing this, thanks!

      Hey Vouvelle,

To be honest with you, it's mostly just down to practice. However, in my personal opinion I would hold off summoning pills to increase vividness until you have the dream stabilised.

It sounds to me that you may be getting frustrated that the dream isn't quite how you want and this could be the reason you are having short LD's.
I would read up on some stabilisation techniques. Try just smelling, feeling, touching and hearing the dream around you. Try touching the ground and kneeling down to look at the floor. Sometimes when you only have a small portion of the dream to focus on, it can help you focus. Once the dream is stable I am sure you will then be able to get the vividness and clarity you want with the techniques you are already using.

      Hope this helps.

      Nito.

Hi Vouvelle. I have a question: how long are these lucid dreams lasting? If the dream is not falling apart on you (and it is unclear from your question whether it is or not) then stability is not an issue. If the dream is stable, try moving to a different part of the house, looking out a window, maybe even walking through a door. If you are in total darkness, just walk until you find something, and possibly rub your hands together along the way. Try to focus on the senses that are available. Sometimes the dream just needs a chance to "boot up."

If the dream is unstable--meaning that the environment seems tenuous or "flimsy"--then worry about stabilization. Getting more light and clarity into your dreams is not always an option--sometimes dreams will be a bit hazy. This was happening to me for a while and then it went away. Try having a few more LDs and see if the problem doesn't resolve itself. Your next LD might be an awesome DILD that takes place in a beautiful countryside somewhere, or in the middle of Manhattan (whatever suits you)--there is no way to know. All of your dreams will not fit this schema. And as Nito mentioned, don't get frustrated. This can lead to premature awakening. Just relax, focus on your senses, and see what the dream brings you. Good luck

Thanks! These dreams were 10-30 seconds long. When I say dark I mean that it's night time, and the lights in the house are really dim for some reason. The furniture didn't really look quite right. Kind of warped. I had flashes of vividness but mostly the dream just declines into unconsciousness. I'll definitely just try and focus on my senses and really anchor myself to the dream-reality.
