      Ex-Lucid dreamer

Hi, I used to use sleep paralysis to lucid dream, but several years ago started on medication which I think has taken away my super powers. I miss both the paralysis and the lucid dreams. I hope I might be able to regain some ability. In any case I look forward to to discussions with people who won't think I'm weird. People who haven't experienced either sleep paralysis or lucid dreaming often react with fear when I explain my experiences.

Hi there UG! Welcome to the forum!

You are in good hands here. Many people here have had Sleep Paralysis (and Lucid Dreams too of course) I've only had Sleep Paralysis once myself so far. Both Sleep Paralysis and Lucid Dreams are a very normal thing to experience, and on top of that completely awesome I'm sure you'll find people here who have had similar experiences, and there is also a ton of info to look through!

Hope you enjoy it here and find what you are looking for!

      Hi, UG! Welcome to DV

Luckily for you, sleep paralysis (SP) is not necessary for experiencing lucid dreams. In fact, you will soon find that SP is somewhat debunked on this forum. For whatever reason, the Internets always seems to cite it as a necessary gateway to LDing. I can also say (from personal experience) that it is not at all necessary for LDing on a regular basis

I had sleep paralysis once...it was before I'd even heard of lucid dreaming, but I was certainly aware during that time that I couldn't move.

Anyway, looks like we're both new! Welcome!
