Not So New - A Reintroduction

So, this isn't the first time I've posted in the introduction zone. Back in April of 2013 I registered on these forums after spending a lot of time lurking and reading everything I could about lucid dreaming. Right around that time, my wife and I found out we were expecting our first baby, and different priorities took over.

We've got a 15-month-old now, and we're expecting our second! But, I've adjusted to a much different life now, and lucid dreams are starting to pique my interest yet again.

A week ago or so, I had a very unique experience (for me) and I'd like to share it as part of my reintroduction.

I was dreaming I was at my grandfather's house with some family, except in real life, he had just recently sold the house. I realized quickly I was dreaming, and turned and walked out of the front door expecting to walk into waking life. (I become lucid many times a week, and each time the dream becomes unstable within the minute and I end up in another dream non-lucid, or I wake up, so this is what I've come to expect every time.) Instead, I found myself standing in the front yard with no one around. My family had disappeared, the usually busy road nearby was vacant... I couldn't even hear anything out in the distance. A strange feeling rushed over me, and everything became so vivid... and I was still lucid!

I walked to the end of the yard and then out into the street. I turned to look down the hill and stood there, still in perfect silence. An idea came to me, and I decided to listen for the sound of my own breathing. I grabbed my nose and closed my mouth and began to breathe, and there it was - what I imagine was the sound of myself laying in my bed sleeping.

I started to float off of the ground. Still looking down the road, I decided now would be the perfect time to fly. As soon as the thought occurred, I started gliding along the road, but not quite flying. A little more determination and effort, and a sort of forward thrust, and I went up in to the air, away from the road, across a valley and on to the top of another hill.

I turned around and looked back at the hill I had just been standing on and just smiled at it. I lifted my arms in the air with a sort of "would you look at this" motion, and then the dream quickly imploded into a little ball in front of me, and I woke up in my bed.

The dream lasted maybe three or four minutes. I was taking it all slowly and just absorbing the experience. Since then, I've been back digging through information and techniques to try to get myself back to that level of lucidity, and eventually beyond. The funny thing is (and this isn't normal), that was the last time I had a lucid dream. This last week plus has been completely void of any dream realization.

I hope to learn a little bit, and to participate more, AND to have some fun. Thanks for taking the time to let me say hello again, and I look forward to seeing all of you around.

      Welcome back!

Awesome experience! So, you actually saw the dream as a tiny ball in the end? Cool!
Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is.
