Hey, welcome! I was in the seventh grade when I first heard about lucid dreaming, but I've never been quite as serious about it as I am now, when I'm eighteen. I guess that happens. ^_^ If you have any questions, then just ask around. Someone here'll be able to help!
I actually think that DV's dream journal place is a bad way to start, as is any other computerized dream journal. Why? Because it's the Internet we're talking about! It's so easy to get side-tracked, and don't forget that neurons are constantly firing off your brain. What if your computer/phone/tablet/whatever freezes when you're trying to get here? Then you'll forget most of your dream, and you might not even realize it.
Soooo, I say have a DJ beside your bed at all times. Consciously remind yourself throughout the day to write in it the next morning (it's hard to get in this practice for a little while, but usually after a few days you're good). Then, if you want to come back here for this one, wait until you can remember about one dream per night.
