Hey guys !! this is gonna be a weird post

Hey guys im paralyzed, thats my username , feel free to call me by my real name kevin. I heard about lucid dreaming 3 years ago (im 15 btw, and im not immature)
I really wanted to experience a lucid dream from that day on, 1 week later , i experienced my first DILD . I kept practicing for 2-4 months, overall I experienced over 20-25 DILDs . That's when I heard about OBEs and my sorry tale begins. I read OBEs are more vivid and realistic than LDs, so I directed all my efforts and interests to try and achieve OBEs instead of LDs. I read that you will need to achieve Sleep Paralysis to induce an OBE (i think you can see where this is going ) . So i set my mind to induce SP. I waited... I followed all the steps, nothing... I tried so hard I fell asleep and had LDs instead (my LDs were never vivid and realistic, I think its because i rarely note down my dreams in my dream journal) , same story for 3 days until one night , i woke up from a dream , I was staring at the ceiling , I couldn't move , I panicked , then i broke free and was able to move again. I could barely sleep that night afraid that SP would occur again. So every day after that i would think ' heh, what a pussy I was, it was all normal', then the following night on the same day I would be scared shitless and was afraid to lie still, so i constantly moved my legs to avoid getting SP . So then i said 'enough of this' and gave up LDing and never attempted anything related for one year. The next year I tried to have an OBE again same shitty results , I gave it up again for the next 2 years. I forgot everything, EVERYTHING. I need tips on LDing , DILDs will happend in time but I have never achieved WILDs which is why im asking you all for help, is it necessary for me to keep my eyes absolutly still while trying to induce WILDs ? If not then how do I keep it from twitching? How do I know how far have I reach and last but not least will I have to go through sleep parylsis for inducing WILDs ?

      Thanks in advance,

      peace

Hello there Paralyzed! To tell you the truth, I think there is a lot of confusing information floating around the internet, which instead of helping people prevents them from reaching their goals. It's good you decided to join us so you can get a clean start.

Yep, I say, forget about everything you've read so far and start from the very beginning. I suggest staring with building awareness by doing some day work - reality checks, critical thinking and so on. Also, don't forget to journal your dreams. See how that goes for starters. Once again, forget everything you have read and also lay your fear to the side - because there is nothing to be afraid of. Nothing will happen to you when falling asleep and you are in control when having lucid dreams.

I would recommend to have a look through some great threads we have which can clarify things for you - links below.

Oh yeah I forgot to ask, do you need to keep your eyes absolutely still when trying to induce WILD?

I've never had the urge to move my eyes during a WILD attempt, but I'm pretty sure that's not a thing. I've heard of people even moving their arms or legs when trying to WILD, whatever helps you get to sleep. I think the main part is just remaining aware during the transition.

OK thanks , is there anyway to know if I successfully induced a WILD without getting up? Or at least if I'm close?

I usually check to see if I'm dreaming once I stop feeling vibrations and I pretty much always am at that point. Some people use a fan/AC because they stop hearing the noise of it once they're in a dream. I like to check by doing an epiglottis block RC, where I basically either try to breathe through my mouth while it's closed or I slightly tense my neck muscles to block my throat hole, then try to breathe. If air gets through, then I know I'm dreaming. There are a ton of different ways to check, a lot more than I listed. If you want more advice on WILD, you should check out Sageous' WILD class. He is awesome and very knowledgeable, he's helped me and a lot of other people get better at WILD.

I'm back 30 minutes after my first try at WILD (thanks for the tips btw anotherdreamer and NyxCC it really helped me alot ! ) , as I went to sleep , I held onto my self-awareness, dreamlets appeared often now and then , I just looked but didn't interact with them. Then I felt vibrations, very faint, I just ignored them and kept moving on. All of a sudden something happened I was just aware of something, my heart beat strongly and rapidly (idk why) , I clearly felt my self raise up from the bed, floating. Then I chickened out and got up, did RC just in case, nope I was awake . I just keep getting scared for some reason. I will try again though.

Wow congratulations! That sounds great, I bet if you did a reality check when you felt like you were floating, you would have been dreaming.

      You're awesome!

Yeah, I totally agree. His class has helped me out a ton. Sageous has a great class and he's an excellent teacher!
Good luck with your next WILD!
Also, don't forget that you can post your WILD attempts Here if you want any advice from Sageous on anything that you can do better next time.

Congrats Paralyzed, you are almost there! Next time just focus on all the cool things that you are going to do in your dream and on the feeling of joy of having a lucid and all fear will be gone.
