Hey everyone. I'm a 24yr old female from the US. As long as I can remember, I've been able to control aspects of my nightmares. I can make myself fly by running really fast and sort of 'pumping' myself up to get higher. I am usually always running from something or trying to escape. A lot of times, it's a struggle and my body feels very weak, but when I reach a safe height and steady myself, or land in a tree, its very peaceful. I've never even meant to lucid dream, in fact I didn't even know it was a thing until a few years ago. I've never tried to induce them, sometimes they're frequent, but I've gone years without them, as well. Since i only get them during nightmares, i usually wake myself up, but them am in a state of paralysis for a minute, until my body catches up with my mind. I'm hoping to learn to control more aspects of my dreams, so I can enjoy my lucidness instead of it always being a nightmare. I also suffer from anxiety, night terrors, night sweats, and insomnia. These usually tend to coincide with my lucid dreaming, but not always.
Anyway, hello! I'd love to hear if anyone has had a similar experience with lucid dreaming spontaneously, and if they've had success in training themselves to do it in other settings.
