First of all, when you wake up in the middle of the night, the best thing to do is a realtiy check, then think about lucid dreaming, tehn tlel yourslef when you go back to sleep, you iwll be in a dream and will go Lucid. You need not wake up many times durring the night. One is enough.

Smoking and alcohol will deter your ability to have lucid dreams, or to even remeber your noraml dreams. They alter your mind into an anti-effective sate for dreaming. Just dont to it
