How I obtain some thing like wild

A few years ago I read up on lucid dreaming and was able to obtain some. After about six months I stopped readding about them and was not activly trying to have lucid dreams although I would still sometimes have them and remained courious about them. Recently I started a job at a home for disabled persons during the night shift. At this job I would get all of my work done in the first two hours and have about nine hours to kill since i worked an eleven hour shift. I would sit on the couch and watch televison and at about four in the morning i would get very sleeppy, but would try really hard to stay awake. Sometime I would close my eyes for a couple of seconds and realize I was asleep and completly paralized like what is described in the WILD tutorial, but totaly aware that I was asleep at work and at any moment one of the residents could walk in and see me sleeping so I would force myself awake witch could be quite hard at times. Even while still asleep I would think "this is the perfect state to lucid dream" but never could explore that thought becuase I was supose to be working. At those times that is the most lucid i have every been. The strange part about it is that I would not be dreaming at all i would just feel trapped in my body and be aware that i had fallen asleep. I've tried to obtain this at home but it doesn't work, I think becuase I don't have any strong reason to try and stay awake (like getting cuaght sleeping at work).

I have had similar experiences after working a series of night shifts I go to bed in the morning but dont want to sleep in too late as I want to get my sleep pattern back to normal . I found as I was trying not to doze off that I had WILD type episodes . I hate doing night shifts but it certainly livens up my dream activity and LD's .

      Hey Dj,

You know you're actually quite lucky in one way - you get to practice in that "zone" between waking and sleep! I would recommend keeping that up because you will, at some point, be able to go through the whole process into a lucid dream.

Even while still asleep I would think \"this is the perfect state to lucid dream\" but never could explore that thought becuase I was supose to be working. [/b]
I don't know for sure, but I think that you were, in fact, IN a dream at this time - you just didn't believe it to be true. The mind can easily reproduce sensations that can make it seem like you're experiencing waking life - like sitting in the couch and hearing the television. Next time, I would go ahead and do a reality check - even if you are convinced you're awake.

I've recently had the oportunity to try the NovaDreamer - and this one particular instance, I was confident that i was lying in my bed waiting to fall asleep when it fired the cue lights. Since I was told to hit the RC button on the mask no matter what - I did so. Sure enough, the lights didn't blink like they were supposed to! I was dreaming!!
