      Getting Enough Sleep.

I had posted this on another board but just deleted it since it wasn't the right board for it.

Maybe this is just because I just read this site last night and finally decided be committed to start lucid dreaming. I've known about lucid dreaming for a while but felt too lazy to try since it takes a while. I guess now I'm not too lazy anymore, lol. I found an old spiral notebook to use for a dream journal and I was able to recall 4 dreams on my first night. I guess based on what I read in the FAQs, that 4 dreams is pretty good for the first night.

However, I was so concentrated on doing this because I guess I am excited about having my first lucid dream and everything, that I woke up this morning at 6:30. I don't have school because it is midterm week and I usually wake up about 9-9:30. I was able to fall back asleep and get a 4th dream in but woke up again at 7:15.

Is this lack of sleep just because it's the first night and I'm thrilled that I'm finally committed to this, or is it something that could happen a lot?
Wait!! .......Am I dreaming right now?

I too, have been "losing" sleep. I am rested in the morning and throughout the day, so this isn't a problem, but every morning I have been waking up early and then slipping in and out of sleep for the last few hours before my alarm goes off. Every time I awake I have a new dream to record, so I am actually quite happy with this new, "waking and sleeping" thing.

Well, I have a physics midterm this morning so I guess this wasn't a good day to start keeping a journal. LOL.

The more sleep you get the more you will dream...and the more you will be able to remember. Also, the greater your chance of becoming lucid. So make sure you get at least 7-8 hours of sleep a night.

I know this, it's just that my first night it happened for. I always get 8-10 of sleep (non school night. 7-8 on a school night). I just hope that I don't have this sleeping problem continuously. But I remembered 4 dreams on my first night of Journal entries. So remembering apparently isn't a huge problem.

What defines one dream from another? Is it like the setting and "plot" of the dream change completely all of a sudden, or a dream, followed by darkness for a little while, then another dream?

For me I think the most dreams I've remembered in one night was 8. That only happened once though. And that's not including lucid dreams. Anyway, for me a dream is defined by it's scene and plot. If the scenery changes but the plot and characters stay the same, then it's the same dream. But if the scene changes and you are doing something different with different people then it's a different dream. This is just my own opinion I'm sure everyone has their own opinion about what constitutes a seperate dream for them. Usually you have a good idea about when a new dream begins because the other dream either fades out, becomes blurry, or you just don't exactly remember how it ended.
