Hello everybody! Introduction and a question!

Hello everybody! I'm Rob! I have been fascniated by LD for the past week (since I heard of it) and think I made a breakthrough last night!

Anyway after waking up I wrote in my dream journal for the first time, which I have never tried, and was able to remember 3 dreams that I had which I think are the only ones besides one short one in VIVID detail. I'm talking about half a page on college ruled paper and here it is 12 hours later I still remember them.

One was about a ghost in my room and I remember distinctly being paralyzed by the ghost for a few seconds and a tingling feeling followed by paralyzation which seemed so real.

The next was at my teacher's house for a class and my crush kissing me after I told her she was beautiful.

The next was the federal government demolishing schools, and watched mine being blown up.

The 4th small one was me doing a reality check in my room that didn't work and falling asleep without asking if I was dreaming or trying anything else.

Is being able to recall dreams that well normal for a first try and am I close to lucidity? I tried the MILD method by saying I would remember to see if I was dreaming. Thanks. I may try a wild this weekend in the daytime so I wake up afraid to light if it goes wrong.

Re: Hello everybody! Introduction and a question!

Hey there and welcome to the forum!
The answer to your first question is that I believe that you could have been in some sort of Sleep Paralysis, and maybe had even seen some Dream Imagery along with it. For the 2nd and 3rd questions, those are just normal dreams that you might want to keep track of in a Dream Journal, so in the future, it can be used to increase Recall, and could help LDing as well.
Yes, being able to recall them is normal, and good luck on trying the methods MILD and WILD...you might even consider looking at the Tutorials section before you attempt it.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

Sweet i remember my first recall on night of march 1st. You wanted to know how close you are so ill just say how long it took me to get my old LD (night b4 last) I wrote down 1/3-1.5pages every morning in a notebook...i cant wake up naturally so i set my alarm 5.5 6 and 6.5 hrs into sleep then remember in morning (if i dont remember opon alarm)...i did this everynight for about...20days? Then i had a DILD, so keep doing it and ur bound to get one :-D For my first one...it was weak compaired to other peoples i was only compltly in CTRL for about 1minute then i started to unconsily let the dream take over...this is nothing compaired to other ppls LD...and man..it was SO cool, you have no idea. My other friend had a LD (like 10seconds, not as good as mine) ...like the second day he tried lol so its all diff.

Welcome!! It's great to have you here. Check out everything. We have awesome resources for all sorts of dreaming related and non dreaming related material. Having good dream recall essential in Lucid dreaming. The better you get at recalling your dreams, the better you will be at LDing. I would say that you might have a slightly above average recall ability, but it's nothing unusual.
      Shine on, you crazy diamond!

      HELLO

      Hi Rob.
As you can see keeping a dream journal helps a lot. It brings the thoughts from our dreams to the forefront of our minds.
You will be able to recognize individual dream signs with better dream recall too!

Keep us up do date with any new experiences. We will be glad to offer input.

Thank you all so much! Unfortuneately I get nowhere near enough sleep during the weekdays which I hear helps with the recalling the dreams. That may be why I always used to think that I never dreamt, I simply exhausted out every part of my body. I dunno. Thank you though!

it is your health (physically & mentally ) that a full nights rest is required mostly for. Dreaming, secondary.

I know, but high school is hectic, I just got another project today on issues and Sigmund Freud was on there so I am going to do it on his dream analysis and create a chart with the stages of sleep.

Well it is good to see you putting the effort towards school!
And to do a "proper" dream analysis you must receive at least eight hours of sleep and experience the effects of each stage of sleep.

Eight hours. - Ya right! Who anymore has time for eight hours of sleep?

      Good luck with your project.
