How long have you written down your dreams? Did you just start? The decrease could just come from getting over the initial novelty of it. Or your sleep patterns may have changed somewhat, such as having to jump out of bed sooner, not sleeping as long, or just sleeping during different times. Have you experienced any recent changes in your sleep schedule? Regardless, don't sweat it too much, just keep writing down the dreams you do recall.

I haven't yet any success with reality checks, so don't listen to me, but... How about forgetting the mark on your hand and just do an RC everytime you see your hands? I used to do that during a previous incarnation of LD practice. It led to my first LD. Unfortunately, it didn't keep up.

      Hands

I wanted to reiterate looking at your hands. I remember in this dream book I read years ago that is what they suggested for lucid dreaming. Though that was while you are actually the dream, you are suppose to look at your hands, which then reminds you that you are dreaming. I am still learning about RCs, I just now read the page on them on this website.

You may also just be hitting a slump. I find that DR (dream recall) goes in cycles. It comes and goes, but if you keep at it, you will get better and hopefully the bad streaks will go away altogether.

Also, stress is public enemy number 1 as far as DR goes. Do anything you can think of to make yourself feel at ease before you go to sleep and in the morning when you wake up. If you have to jump out of bed for school or work or something, you could try waking up 30 minutes earlier and just lying in bed (don't fall back asleep and be late though! you'll have to go to bed early enough that you won't be tired if you do this), relaxing and trying to remember your dreams.

I haven't had any luck with RCs either, the only way they are useful to me is that they keep my mind on dreaming all day. The most important thing about learning to LD is probably just thinnking about it a lot. Some people have beginners luck and are able to have LDs easily when they first start, because it's a mind blowing concept and when people first find out about it they are probably going to be thinking about it all day.

I also find this to be true. Sometimes I'll recall several full-scale dreams in one night, and sometimes I'll wake up with only a couple flashes of a single dream. Just keep writing down whatever you can remember. No dream is too unimportant to record.

As some others have said, stress can play a part in decreased dream recall. Also, when something is new and exciting, you always perform better than when the newness wears off.

I always forget to do reality checks, too. I was reading EWOLD last night and it was talking about doing reality checks to increase your memory to make MILDing easier. I memorized the reality check targets last night, and do you think I remembered them this morning? No. But I just have to keep trying. My memory sucks ass.

This is good advise. Don't get lazy and stop recording your dreams....This will hurt. As Burns said, there is not a dream that isn't worth recording. Also, reading EWOLD is a great move.

I don't write down my dreams. Like i said in a priveous post. It doen't realy help me. I did that but i saw don't have clear dream signs (exept i am in a place i should not be) but i know that so no need to write that down.

I started by convinsing i would remember my dreams and when i had at least 1 every day during 2weeks i started to do R.C. Wich i stoped doing becaus i always seem to forget. Did not have a lucid dream since the 3 i wrote down (with wich i had controle touble).

SO how come my R.C. is down (ok mabe it's in cycles) but if not how come. And what can i do to rembemer to R.C. (anf no MILD is not a good idea, if i can't rember to R.C. i won't rember a whole list of things). Or is it better to check the posts in the topic's on these subjets

If you think that the only reason for writing your dreams down is to identify your dreamsigns, you are sadly mistaken. How do you know it doesn't help you? When you wrote down your dreams, how long did you do this consistantly? If it was any less than 1-2 months, than I think you might want to give it another go. The reason why writing a dream down is so important is becase it reinforces that memory....Sometimes it takes awhile for it to be effective, but it isn't something that you do once and then expect immediate results. I suspect that your unwillingness to keep a DJ is the primary part of your problem.
