If I were you, I would 'train' myself to wake up after an alotted time period. Think about waking up at a specific time, and concentrate on it before sleeping. It always helps me. And welcome to the forum![/i]

Well, helping yourself awaken after a certain amount of time gives you the opportunity to be able to record your dreams and figure out your dream signs. When you do that, you are able to identify when you are dreaming (with enough meditation and concentration that is). This enables you to attain lucidity. You should worry about control, when you have mastered LDs...

Re: Some queries on controling my dreams(MY 1st post)

Hey McLoone! Have you ever had an LD before?

Whenever you a reality check, look around you and identify anything that you would not expect to find there, and question why it is there. If you can't come up with an answer, then you may be in a dream. Also, think of what you were doing in the last few minutes and how you got to your current situation. If you can't think of an answer then you are porbably dreaming.

For example, I saw a pink inflatable chair in the hallway when I went to get breakfast. I knew this was not something you normally see everyday, so I thought about what I was doing in the last few minutes 'I was reading a book in bed'. Then I question where the chair came from 'It is my sister's chair which I inflated last night'. I did a reality check along with this and came to the conclusion that I was awake.

After a while you get used to doing this, and it becomes almost instictive to question any wierd stuff that goes on around you.

This should help you to discriminate everything that goes on around you, so eventually you will start to reconise the weird stuff that goes on it your dreams.

If you question what is going on in the real world enough you will begin to do it in the dream world too. Therefore you question what is going on around you in the real world, and you will eventually do so in the dream world.
As for doing reality checks often enough, there are many cheap digital watches that can be made to beep every hour. Whenever it beeps you should do a reality check.

Nobody really makes decisions in non-lucids. That's why they aren't lucid...It all goes with training your mind to recognize the dream state.

      Oh yeah!- here's another method:

If you think about doing a reality check enough before you go to bed, it may trigger you to do some in your dreams. In a way you are proggramming your dream to include reality checks.
You could do it in the same way as a MILD, but replace the words "I will wake up after every dream period and I will remember my dream" with the words "I will do a reality check in my dreams". Also visualise yourself doing a reality check whilst doing this, and it would have a higher chance of working.

If I were you, I'd try the MILD method combined with WBTB (click on the links to read the tutorials). As you are trying to go back to sleep, just repeat to yourself "the next thing I experience will be a dream". It may not work the first few times, but eventually you should find yourself in a dream with the awareness that it is only a dream.

      A MILD:http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2047

As for the watches...My watch was called a Casio illuminator. It's not the fancyiest in the world but it does beep on the hour. I think a lot of Casio digital watches beep every hour. If you're doing it on ebay contact the seller- he might know what it's functions are.
