      Does Being Lucid Feel "Real"?

Like, can you feel the texture of things when touching then, can you feel the wind in your hair when flying, or far enough to even feel cold? Or are you just imagining it all? I'm new to lucid dreaming and I just tried last night, and I failed so I wouldn't know. I get exited at the thought of flying but also get discourged to think it dosen't even feel real.

I also need some tips, I go to bed and do a reality check. Then I think to myself constantly, in going to be dreaming soon. Then when I get a dream I completely forget about lucid dreaming. I can remember my dream completly throughout the day, I'm gonna take a nap and try again. Any tips?

      Thanx for reading

      Heya Sean, and welcome!

As with regular dreams, you can have varying levels of vividness. When you are having an extremely vivid lucid dream, it is almost indistinguishable from reality. Yes, you can feel textures, and wind in your hair, and anything else that you can imagine.

If you haven't yet done so, check out the Tutorials section for more ideas on how to induce lucidity. If you have any specific questions, just ask!

In certain cases, lucid dreams can feel more than real. Colors are more vivid, sounds much sweeter, touch much more sensitive.

I've LD'd before and flown just over the tops of some tall grass with my shirt off, what a sensation, pretty incredible.

Yes. It's much more than just a "daydream." In my first lucid dream I spent a couple minutes just in awe, running my hands over surfaces and marvelling at how REAL everything was.

Keep doing what you're doing, but you need to do reality checks all the time, not just before bed. Do them as often as you can remember. The idea is that the habit will carry over into your dreams, and sometime you will do a reality check just out of pure habit, and be surprised to find that you really are in a dream!

Though, as far a recollecting the dream afterwards your recollection is a little faded and it's feel much less vivid in memory than it did while you were dreaming, which I hear doesn't occur if you WILD.

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

This is true for me too, although some people say that their lucid memories are just as clear as their waking life memories. For me, my recall of lucid dreams is about as hazy as regular dreams. In retrospect it feels like it was dream, but I also remember that while I was actually in the dream, it felt incredibly real!

Anyway, here's a topic being discussed right now that you might want to check out:
Lucid Dreams versus "real" (non-dream) Memories

Ah, I remember this. This is exactly how it was for me first too. I got all exited and just wanted to have a LD, I did RC's all the time and I went straight on to the tecniques. But, it didn't work. After a couple of nights of trying, I gave up. Then, a few days later, I tried again but this time slower. I started using a dream journal, and only practised my recall. After a few days of practising, I felt much more confident. I tried a WBTB and a MILD, and to my big surprise, it worked.

So, just give yourself time! Practise your RC's, and your recall a few nights. I know how you feel, you don't wanna waste the nights when you can try a tecnique, but trust me, it is worth it. Welcome to the forum, by the way.
